What They Wear: Fashionable Fellows
Perhaps it’s our magazine background rearing its head (the New Year/New You cover line was drilled into our brains), but we’ve felt like flipping the script lately. To that effect, we’ve decided to dip into an area of fashion we’ve never touched—menswear—for the day. Above you’ll find a gang of our favorite well-dressed guys who cover the range from downtown cool to dapper dandies. Perhaps you should forward this to the most stylish men in your life or the darling-but-dismal dressers you know? Either way, it’s sure to inspire!
Our first fashionable fellow is Adam Brody, seen here en route to MTV’s TRL studios. It’s nice to see him freshen up the preppy classic combo (blazer, button down, and khakis) by swapping in cords for the traditional chinos and choosing these staples in a slim fit. Moving on, Mark Ronson made a bold but well-executed move with the dark plaid suit he wore to a launch party and dinner for Dolce & Gabbana’s “The One” fragrance. Next up is David Beckham, looking yummy as usual in a cool pair of broken in jeans and a cozy cardigan. One aspect we love about Beckham’s street style that he often wears ties tucked into sweaters; it’s sort of an ode to geek chic. Finishing up our top row, we have Penn Badgley from “Gossip Girl.” Snapped while walking to the set in New York, Badgley’s on point with his plaid shirt and charcoal scarf.
In the second row, we have another Adam kicking things off, though this one is the frontman for Maroon 5. Levine has always been a snappy dresser, but as of late he’s acquired the sort of casual sophistication world-travelers possess. He showed off this relaxed but sleek style while roamed the streets in Paris. Zipping right along, we have James Franco, spotted at the Hollywood premiere of “In The Valley Of Elah.” He’s a great example of how a simple black blazer can add a polish to any outfit. Fellows, if you’re reading this, please invest in one immediately—and make sure it fits perfectly. Our next man, Kanye West, is always au courrent and interesting to watch. West has a very personal sense of style and we love how he clearly thinks about the details. Just look at the above image of him from a GQ party in London and know that you’re observing a sartorial genius. We’ll wrap things up with Hayden Christensen, seen here in New York wearing a key item this season—the double-breasted jacket. We’re fans of the crispness of his denim, as well as the little pop of color that comes from his scarf.

awsome.......they all look fashionable to me or is it that i kinda dress the same so i like it.............but i really do like how they put pieces together but kanye kinda did do a little to match matchy i agreee......but nothing goes better witha pair of converse or some shoes that have the same figure as converse. thats furr surre. None of these guys are dressed that great.
#1 - Probably best of the bunch. Blazer would look better with skinny lapel and the shoes aren't great.
#2 - 3 button and the pattern are too much. Shoes aren't great.
#3 - Not bad, but fit is all wrong. Fit of jeans, fit of sweater, shoes?
#4 - Worst outfit, wash of jeans, fit of jeans. Overall not fashionable.
#5 - I kinda like this, but the t-shirt throws it off. Nice hair style though.
#6 - Horrible, no style.
#7 - Kanye usually looks good, but he is alittle too matchy matchy sometimes.
# 8 - Jeans are great, don't like jacket or shoes though.

But James sure looks good...:) everything Beckham is wearing fits him perfectly...which i guess isn't hard when you look like that! Mark Ronson looks so rad in that suit! I love the super slim fit and especially the skinny tie and mod boots!

I LOVE this post and I'm seriously begging you guys to open up a WWWD website for MEN?! PLEASE. As a male, it's extremely hard for me to find inspiration for fashion. How are they "fashionable" if they all look basically the same? so good you guys explored the male side of fashion! It's much more difficult for men to be creative or imaginative with clothing since excentricity can rhyme with "metrosexual" or "gay-looking" very often. As a guys who likes clothing, it's hard to pull off "new" things and still make it look effortless. Please keep on making some fashionable fellows posts! It rocks!! Hayden has the look down flat. The jeans (kind of skinny, kind of baggy) and jacket (pure sophistication)are killer. He does modern classic well. He's also gorgeous, which doesn't hurt... adam & penn! the two best. penn is so adorable. i heart him. Mark Ronson looks SUPER CHEESY.
I LOVE THE SUIT, the shape and cut and fabric and shoes and hair and EVERYTHING EXCEPT the print or design on the suit. Get rid of that and OH MAMA! James Franco and Becks...yum, yum, yum. Seriously, no one can rock a cardgigan quite like Mr. B.

hey alis if your boy dresses better than this, does he have any friends?! HA! i absolutely love Kanye West's style, perfection throughout the details. LOVES IT LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was about to post a comment about #1,#2 and #7 but after reading ALIS' comment, that's totally what I wanted to type down. Also, the whole outfit of Kanye West looks horrible.. this article completely undermines the significance of male fashion. it's a lot more than a black blazer and a grey scarf. wtf? lame. Yessss.
All boys should dress like these. Adam Levine's bowl cut should disqualify him from any best-dressed lists for sure. Mark Ronson looks amazing that picture of adam levine does him no justice...he looks rainman-ish... adam brody' pants look like he had them when he was 16 and he suddenly grew out of them. #2 looks ridiculous i dont know why the hell he is even featured. kanye's belt and sunnies screwed up an ok outfit. and the rest is just bleh. you should feature my boyfriend instead of these guys any time. Top 3 Best dressed in this order!
1. Kanye West - his styles cover street chic to grammys glam.
2. David Beckham - everyone loves a Euro Sporty Stud. His fashion is effortless!
3. Mark Ronson - This artsy producer always makes a statement! Who else on this page could pull of that tight, checkerd suit? Adam Brody and Penn Badgley know whats goin on : ) kanye west is too cool for school i agree with ben, esp. about james franco's VILE SHOES!! hayden's shoes are a little odd too, but he, penn and adam look best. leave the male fashion to streetsters! Penn Badgley and Adam Brody have got me in a tizzy! james franco and adam brody look so hot I would def say that 3 and 4 are the best dressed here...nothing like a straight leg on mens jeans! although #8 is looking quite dapper, his brown sweater underneath completely clashes with his scarf, turns the checkerboard into a bad idea altogether, who dressed him??
#7 matching the sunglasses to belt is just hot, although there is way too many pallettes of grey lurking about.
i think the whole tapered jean look is hard to pull off for guys unless your mod all the way! which #2 pulls off with flying daggers, minus the thrifty looking boots...I know they had a pair in Florence just dying to be paired with that suit!

And wow.. i was actually just thinking there should be something on well dressed men on here yesterday. ! =D Looks like all you need to be a well-dressed man are dark grey jeans and a blazer? He looks great- not too over the top. mark ronson is the love of my life. and when i met hayden he was wearing the exact outfit. guess it's his fav scarf. mark ronson is okay by me. i think im in love... adam brody = future mother of my children Kanye West is the king of mens fashion! beckham & badgley...adorable. They're ok...Levine's is the best by far. Beckham looks to have been dressed by someone else and his clothes aren't nice fitting, Ronson looks like he saw it and thought "that's different" not "that's nice." Kanye is contrived looking with all the matching blue, Hayden is quite nicely dressed, as is Adam Brody but I don't like his shoes or pant material. Penn Bagley is dressed well. Where to start with James Franco?! Vile shoes, leg shrinking jeans badly fitted jacket and missmatched top. With guys i think that the best dressed comes from normal everyday people, not from the celebrities. does anybody know what kind of jeans becks is wearing?? oh my god! Adam Levine is my LOVE!! |
