September Fashion Story: Runway to Real Way

While pondering the perfect way to showcase fall's most important pieces, we went through countless editorial concepts and considered many different models. But no matter how swell an idea sounded or what wonderful girl could be cast, at the end of the day, nothing felt quite right. We agreed that it was imperative to create a story with a fun and fabulously inspirational spirit, but were stumped about the best way to achieve that effect.

Suddenly, an epiphany struck: we'd spotlight the tastemakers and trendsetters who are responsible for our favorite blogs! These fashion enthusiasts—Geri of Because I'm Addicted, Karla of Karla's Closet, Krystal of What Is Reality Anyway? and The Stylish Wanderer (who prefers to remain unnamed)—demonstrate their mastery of the latest looks on a daily basis, so wouldn't it be intriguing to see how they translate key runway trends into real-life ensembles? With that one direction in mind, we asked this fantastic foursome to raid the WhoWhatWear.com fashion closet and put together some on-trend outfits for everyone's viewing pleasure. We couldn't be more pleased with the results, which offer an ideal introduction to a stylish new season. Do enjoy, and don't be surprised if these gorgeous images spark a wardrobe idea or twelve...

I like Krystal because she is stylish, original and kind................. not saying the others arent't but she IS the only "big blogger" who I routinely see commenting on other people's blogs, including my own! The other's don't do that so much. You rawk Krystal!! www.ontheblogbandwagon.blogspot.com

It is amazing how people would stand up for people they dont know. *giggles* aww come on, everybody's gotta have different views. if everybody is alike, likes the same style. wouldnt the world be boring and plain. nothing to intellectually challenge us :) I love Karla, she's bringing it although I dont agree with Karla's "expression" in the last photo, she looks like she's been laughing the whole day as a reaction from laughing gas (hahah, wth?). Great editorial overall.

Who selected the final pictures? Karla is a gorgeous girl and you chose three pics of her where she looks like she's maniacally laughing?!?

i really like this post, using my favourite bloggers in awesome stylish clothing. GREAT photoshoot! loving it !

I love all the girls, don't be meanies! They always looks so cute and it must be hard for them. Karla you rock, don't listen to the crap. but I don't really think that Geri is lumped into the Rumi category at all. She rarely outfit posts and is more like knight cat and le fashion with butt loads of high fashion inspiration and not like eighteen thousand pictures of just her looking at the ground. I think it's cool that she doesn't flaunt herself like that. I think that is why I love Who What Wear, good combination of inspiration and real.

Karla is that chick. I get fed up with the regurgitated looks of so many bloggers today that she's a breath of fresh air. I like the stylish wanderer as well. Not very familiar with the other girls.

I don't hat her. I don't know her. I just disagree with the hype that has been awarded her for attempts at fashion and style. I do love that taste comes in many shapes and forms and that you were so personally touched by my comment. I only suggest that I think she is not fit to be glorified. I also don't believe Rachel Zoe to be fit for such media attention, but as you can see from her international success, my opinion comes in limited numbers. At the end of the day, the differences I mention in choice and taste are what make fashion art and not mundane and shallow which is exciting to me. I will concede and agree that perhaps lumping Karla with Rumi perhaps was not the best way to make my argument. But it is refreshing to see that you do agree with me that the Rumi school of styling/dressing isn't all it is purported to be. PS Hate is a very strong word I reserve only for bigots, molesters, abusers and the those of such character.

        Posted by: Stylist  |  2009-09-01 20:50:05

i have to disagree with you miss stylist below. i follow karla's blog and because i'm addicted quite religiously and i think that geri from because i'm addicted falls into the "rumi's school of style" category more than karla does. karla has never mentioned nor does she seem to pay much attention to alexander wang on her blog as you claim and usually just does her own thing, whether it "disfigures her body" or not. i'm not so sure about the krystal chick because i've never read her blog so i can't say much about her. my point is stop hating on the only girl that practically makes this whole photo shoot come to life!

        Posted by: ellie  |  2009-09-01 20:41:45

I have to say that I do adore The Stylish Wanderer and because I'm addicted, but I cannot agree with the "fabulousness" of the other two. Karla's outfits may follow the fashion code, however, they never compliment her body shape only disfiguring her in much of the process accentuating body parts that need to be diminished. Furthermore, her choices are never risky, rather that of someone copying other bloggers along the way. The What is Reality Anyway blogger, Krystal, appears to believe that a Chanel bag or a pair of Gucci heels is indicative of fashion. Having seen her live at several events, I have never been impressed, in fact, Ihave rather been shocked by her choices and in turn by the following she has gained. Wearing the new Acne wedges does not make one stylish. Krystal could not creatively put together an appealing, lest fashionable outfit from Forever 21 if given $50. These two seem to fall into the Rumi school of fashion who believes that an Alexander Wang backpack gives the whole outfit style. Style comes from within and is exuded outwardly. It is not created from a label none of these girls could really afford. But, kudos to them for creating a career likened to the Emperor's New Clothes!
