For modern-day material girls, one of the most advantageous aspects of living in the twenty-first century is experiencing the birth and rise of
fashion blogging. This contemporary phenomenon takes street style to a whole new level with sites like
The Sartorialist,
Face Hunter,
Garance Doré, and
Fashion Toast leading the way. Of course, we can't discount
MySpace, as it's the most substantial platform for everyday girls (and boys) who wish to showcase their sharp fashion aptitudes. In fact, one of our guiltiest pleasures each month is browsing the social network to find ladies clad in cute and original outfits, then designating them as
MySpace Muses, so they can further inspire our already-stylish readers! Our December roundup is particularly fabulous—read on for their wardrobe details!
We all know what it's like to visit our closet and feel uninspired by boring, repetitive clothing combos; just thinking about it makes us cringe! Fear not, dear readers, because we have a tried and tested cure to solve this common wardrobe monotony: our MySpace Muses! That's right, anytime you're void of creativity, borrow some from them. For instance, take a cue from Natalie (top row, far left) from LA, who enlivened her simple outfit with an unexpected gray jacket. Keep this specific elephant gray color (as opposed to darker charcoal) in mind next time you throw on outerwear, because it's a refreshing and unexpected departure from the expected basic black. Our favorite options for doing this are Delia's
Motorcycle Fleece
($25) and Veda's
Cropped Leather Snap Jacket ($449).
If you're taken with fall's essential floral trend, make note that
two of our muses are sporting the print. Down under in Sydney, Zanita (top middle) achieves a classic nineties look by sporting a body-conscious posy-print dress. You can find like-minded flower frocks at vintage stores, but if you just want a similar fitted shape, try American Apparel's
Cotton Spandex Jersey Mini Dress ($38).
Next up, we gathered a seasonal pointer from Jessica (top row, far right) in New York, who spices up her ensembles by intermixing fur and
feathers! Create your own ideal winter vibe in Free People's
Crown Of Feathers Headband ($168) or Marciano's
Grace Feather Headband ($98) with Charlotte Ronson's
Faux Fur Bolero

($281).
Our second accessorizing tip for this month is courtesy of our first Rachel (bottom row, far left) from Nashville, because she has a keen ability to blend brown accessories with black ensembles. A quick and easy way to accomplish this style is by coordinating Urban Outfitters'
Doublecross Snap Boots ($125) with your black garments.
Now we'll hone in on a muse recommendation we received for LA-local singer,
Rachel Perry (bottom middle). We love how she puts a feminine spin on her flannel shirt by cinching it in with a chic belt. To emulate the outfit, wear Forever 21's
Chic Stud Belt ($10) over a plaid top, like Urban Renewal's
Oversized Flannel Shirt ($38). You may also consider her Rubberduck
Snow Jogger Boots ($145) and
Miami Sunglasses ($90).
Finally, we have some motivation all the way from Madrid, where Anabel (bottom, far right) showcases today’s second floral trend. She made her flower-print culottes seasonally acceptable by smartly pairing them with dark tights. Follow her lead and revive your spring and summer shorts by warming them up with Urban Outfitters
Opaque Tights ($12).—Jessica Amento
How were these girls picked? I cannot believe that out of all myspace, these were the girls who stood out? It's a little sketchy to me that they look like models, like a previous person said. I don't buy this.

Love the 1st and last . not so much the rest . beautyandthestreet.blogspot.com
Posted by: Amber | 2009-01-03 07:49:58
the first one looks simple but nice and the 2nd, in my opinion, went for a look that i think she got! as for the rest....just plain boring!

I agree with Cecilia (except about Rachel Perrys outfit being cute). You guys need to put NORMAL people on WWWD. It's unfortunate that being skin and bones is ideal beauty.
Posted by: D | 2008-12-31 05:52:56
ever thought about posting muses that look like actual everyday people on the street, wwwd? besides rachel perry, who is still way cute, all of these girls look like professional models. someone below said natalie is a model and i'm almost positive rachel from nashville is too. quintessential waifish, high cheek boned, long legged beauties are great to look at and all of these girls look fabulous but i'd like to see some normal looking girls as muses.

Thanks so much who what wear! my blog is http://ourdelusionalmind.blogspot.com/ -Jessica

Rachel Perry's outfit is just the tackiest thing i have ever seen. Those horrible boots, the blazer over semi buttoned flannel over mustard over leggings. YUCK. and that damn belt... it could have be OKAY without the belt and glasses. Love #1 and #2 #3 looks rediculous. The boots, the cape, the hair and the headband... Its just a cluttered mess. #4 has to be the best here though

Oh, those weren't wayfarers. I guess i just glanced at the pic cause it didn't interest me as much.
Posted by: D | 2008-12-29 18:57:02
yikes. i hate the outfit with the plaid shirt under the belted blazer with the red wayfarers.. looks AWFUL. I'm also not so fond of the outfit with the fur coat so much, it's alright, but looks like she tried to hard and still missed.

Has anyone looked at the 2006 WWWD entries? There's like two for every day of the month. What's going on guys? Do you need some extra hands over at your corporate office? If so, I'm sure lots of us would gladly work for you. =]

love anabel´s style, the last one girl... Stella http://stellawantstodie.blogspot.com/

Perhaps it's not just about being PC but about not encouraging the killing of innocent little animals for our glamour.
Posted by: Lola | 2008-12-28 19:41:50
Rachel in Nashville is #1, Natalie #2. On a side note - Jessica's fur doesn't look faux, and you know what, WHO CARES! I can't stand all these sites that are so PC by mentioning mixing faux fur rather than the real deal.

Does anyone know if the first girl has a blog? She looks amazing there and Zanita's heels are so right with that dress.

Hi Im the second girl - my blog is at www.zanita.com.au I appreciate all advice and constructive criticism - thanks to everyone for their comments and a big thanks to WhoWhatWear for my little feature! xx

Number four, with the brown boots, is the best.

I don't see anything that really stands out...Although I dress similarly to the 6th girl.
Posted by: lianna | 2008-12-26 16:19:30
The first girl is Natalie Suarez, a friend of mine and model.u could just look up her on facebook and myspace.

Natalie, Rachel, and Rachel P. are definitely my favorites! Natalie's outfit is so laid back and very wearable! Rachel's outfit could be dressed up or dressed down; perfect depending on where you're going. Rachel P.'s outfit is just amazing from the boots to her sunglasses. Very original and totally cute!

All of them are terribly dressed, tbh.

Rachel Perry and Jessica are my favorite!!! love rachels sunglasses and jessicas fur/feathers....im going to try that
Posted by: thegreenfairy | 2008-12-26 08:05:07
Zanita looks fabulous! So does the first Rachel, I like her boots and scarf.
Posted by: Amy | 2008-12-26 07:22:34
only zanita and rachel perry look anyway interesting... all the others are completely run of the mill, especially anabel... i'd say every second girl on the street is wearing this kind of outfit at the moment; beanie, high waisted skirt, belt, long cardigan and tights... its completely uninspiring... they dont necessarily look bad but in no way would i call a girl who dresses like every other so called 'fashion girl' a muse. the fact that natalie is called a muse is laughable... i havent seen so mundane an outfit in aaaaaages. snore.
Posted by: caroline | 2008-12-26 06:51:17
No. None of them. Each of these girls have the exact same sense of style.
