June Fashion Story

June Fashion Story: Valley of the Doll

Standing on the cusp of summer, we find ourselves craving the sort of vividly lush looks and tantalizingly trippy combinations worn by Jacqueline Susann heroines. Juxtaposed against a barren backdrop, our June editorial is an ode to these unapologetically feminine pieces and bold color combos. We invite you to feast upon these dazzling delights and revel in their dramatic splendor.

As always, you can enlarge any of the above images by clicking on them. If you'd like to shop the shoot directly, just read on for a detailed list of all the products used.

LOVE how hot the Charm Bracelet looks in Look #5. And it's only 39 bucks!!! www.stelladot.com/rachelcohen

I think that girls under 5'4 are especially capable of pulling off short skirts and high heels! You don't look trashy because you have a ton of leg showing, you don't tower over everyone else and you look "doll-like" which is the whole point! I'm 5'6 and I believe that it would be hard for me to wear these outfits. Towering over everyone else in a barely there mini-skirt isn't my idea of "attractive" and to most people it comes off as slutty.. The outfits are beautifully put together but not for the real world.

This is exaclty like my latest blog post - playful brights: http://www.friendinfashion.blogspot.com I love bright and contrasting colours - this is a gorgeous shoot!

Like Michelle and Isabel, I am under 5'4" but unlike them I think a short curvy girl could pull off these looks, esp. the colour block mini-skirt. All it takes is confidence to pull off any look (plus, in this case, loving your legs). Also, I am loving the editorials. These photos are gorgeous, lush (in a desert!) and inspiring.

That green bejeweled Custo Barcelona top is gorgeous.

I agree with the "under 5'4" statement. I am curvy and short and I would hardly ever be able to pull any of it off :( Maybe the print dress with the necklace but that's probably it. Can we get some stories with people who are actually short and a normal body? PLEASE!?! Other than that, I do love the art. absolutely fab. :)

I LOVE this editorial. And every single piece in it. Esp the Forever 21 Filigree necklace. Just bought it. xo www.thestylerules.com

looks alot like that ed 'desert rose' with siri tollerod.

Imagine this: any gal under 5'4" wearing the exact same pieces of each ensemble. Not a pretty sight. It hurts to acknowledge this because I do think it's visually stunning--as long as it happens to be on the 2% of the population who can actually distort these ensembles to look polished rather than mishmash and borderline frumpy. Stylists need to get real. What's the point if it only works on 17-year-old pillars?

i loooove all the bright vibrant colours, and the fact that you styled the clothes in a kitsch, glamorous way rather than that cliched 'summer hippy' look.Especially love the socks with heels and the bright yellow swimsuit. http://thevoguette-233.blogspot.com/
