June Fashion Story

June Fashion Story: Valley of the Doll

Standing on the cusp of summer, we find ourselves craving the sort of vividly lush looks and tantalizingly trippy combinations worn by Jacqueline Susann heroines. Juxtaposed against a barren backdrop, our June editorial is an ode to these unapologetically feminine pieces and bold color combos. We invite you to feast upon these dazzling delights and revel in their dramatic splendor.

As always, you can enlarge any of the above images by clicking on them. If you'd like to shop the shoot directly, just read on for a detailed list of all the products used.

Many people are wonderfully happy tiffany necklace acquiring custom diamond jewelry from one tiffany necklaces of the fine, lesser-known tradesmen working all over the tiffany bracelet world. There is however something unique about tiffany bracelets buying primary designer necklaces that offers made a following, a traditions, unlike every other. This is true of jewelry from tiffany ring tiffany charm bracelets; the New York Company founded 170 years before by Charles Lewis Tiffany. The truth is, certain think about tiffany rings Tiffany to betiffany uk the ideal illustration of quality and tiffany and co desirability on this planet of beautiful bracelets tiffany jewellery . Tiffany gems was tiffany 1st offered from the 1840s, not long right after the Tiffany & Young retail outlet opened in New York. A doll is a model of a human being. Dolls have been around since the dawn of human civilization, and have been fashioned from a vast array of materials, ranging from stone, clay, wood, bone, cloth and paper, to porcelain, china, rubber and plastic. While dolls have traditionally been toys for children, they are also collected by adults, for their nostalgic value, beauty, historical importance or financial value. In ancient times, dolls were used as representations of a deity, and played a central role in religious ceremonies and rituals. Lifelike or anatomically correct dolls are used by health professionals, medical schools and social workers to train doctors and nurses in various health procedures or investigate cases of sexual abuse of children. Artists sometimes use jointed wooden mannequins in drawing the human figure. Action figures representing superheroes and their predecessors, action dolls, are particularly popular among boys. LOVE how hot the Charm Bracelet looks in Look #5. And it's only 39 bucks!!! www.stelladot.com/rachelcohen

Posted by: Stella Dot Jewe |  2009-07-06 12:08:23

I think that girls under 5'4 are especially capable of pulling off short skirts and high heels! You don't look trashy because you have a ton of leg showing, you don't tower over everyone else and you look "doll-like" which is the whole point! I'm 5'6 and I believe that it would be hard for me to wear these outfits. Towering over everyone else in a barely there mini-skirt isn't my idea of "attractive" and to most people it comes off as slutty.. The outfits are beautifully put together but not for the real world.

This is exaclty like my latest blog post - playful brights: http://www.friendinfashion.blogspot.com I love bright and contrasting colours - this is a gorgeous shoot!

Posted by: friendinfashion |  2009-06-03 20:46:36

Like Michelle and Isabel, I am under 5'4" but unlike them I think a short curvy girl could pull off these looks, esp. the colour block mini-skirt. All it takes is confidence to pull off any look (plus, in this case, loving your legs). Also, I am loving the editorials. These photos are gorgeous, lush (in a desert!) and inspiring.

That green bejeweled Custo Barcelona top is gorgeous.

Posted by: Jenno |  2009-06-01 19:36:42

I agree with the "under 5'4" statement. I am curvy and short and I would hardly ever be able to pull any of it off :( Maybe the print dress with the necklace but that's probably it. Can we get some stories with people who are actually short and a normal body? PLEASE!?! Other than that, I do love the art. absolutely fab. :)

I LOVE this editorial. And every single piece in it. Esp the Forever 21 Filigree necklace. Just bought it. xo www.thestylerules.com

looks alot like that ed 'desert rose' with siri tollerod.

Posted by: sd |  2009-06-01 15:30:28

Imagine this: any gal under 5'4" wearing the exact same pieces of each ensemble. Not a pretty sight. It hurts to acknowledge this because I do think it's visually stunning--as long as it happens to be on the 2% of the population who can actually distort these ensembles to look polished rather than mishmash and borderline frumpy. Stylists need to get real. What's the point if it only works on 17-year-old pillars?
