Love the clothes, shoes and jewelry...the whole deal. The model is gorgeous, long and lean. I am inspired! I'm going to break out my turquiose lariet. thank you Cruel summer? I would much prefer a fun one... This girl needs more ice cream and less pleather. This girl is freakin skinny! god look at her thighs...this not normal..and the clothes look really unatractive on her! stop bitching about skinnyness
she is not too skinny,
yes she is thin, but doesn't look unhealthy at all! and she's probably still in her teens/beginning 20s, I think alot of people have really insulted this girl.
oh! and the "average" women is overweight.
I LOVE THE PICTURES.
I guess I just hate that the model's skinniness was emphasized through the clothing.
Nothing wrong with being naturally skinny...wish she was just dressed more appropriately because whether on purpose or not--u are still tastemakers. By putting it on your blog, this is what you think should go on in fashion--emphasizing skinny-ness instead of styling her in a way that gives her healthy curves... Think about that WWW. I agree that this girl is really skinny, and in my personal opinion, I don't like seeing that, not because I'm jealous but just because it's unrealistic. However, I LOVE the clothing in this shoot, and I think a lot of body types could pull it off. Obviously you're going to have to tweak it a little (I'm not going to be running around in a bra anytime soon) but it's versatile in my opinion. And to the person who said that models are supposed to be a "hanger for the clothes"... WHAT? I know she's a model but she is also a person, not an object. I know that women's bodies are frequently treated as things, especially in fashion, but you should not be thinking like this. For you to maintain that women are just "hangers" for clothing is just as bad as a man thinking she is just a thing for sex. Okay, upon further examination, she does look a little on the overly skinny side. BUT I still think some of these comments are beyond rude - they would be seen as completely unwanted if say, the model was overweight! I'm slightly confused: if you look at her arms, her shoulders and elbows don't protrude much at all. Nor do her ribs. There are so many models who deserve to be called emaciated, but I think she just looks naturally skinny.
Also, isn't this Who What Wear? I thought that the site's motto is that it's not about what you eat, just what you wear? stop hatin. that models bangin...and she doesnt look anorexic, she looks naturally skinny to me. u know some ppl are naturally skinny right. and the shoot is cool. not hating on the model...but the way this was styled makes me think 98% of the buyers are turned off by the fact that NONE OF US will able to pull this off in real life. probably only models like her can. don't say that fashion is all about art. in the end, it's also a BUSINESS. wake up, if u can't appeal to normal-sized readers then i don't think you can sell them even a single vest.
am a little disappointed because WWW's timing was perfect, it emerged alongside the real-girl fashion blogs with real-girl bodies. initially i thought WWW was positioning itself to be a mag for REAL PEOPLE, fashion lovers in all shapes and sizes...
turns out it's just another vogue... Is that first look Latino gang inspired? And I agree, get some curves on that girl. Ouch, that model is way way too skinny. That's what I notice not the clothes. I wasn't interested in looking too much at the clothes was too shocked by how thin she is. I love look no 4
does anyone know where I can find these sunglasses? Okay I understand most of the comments about the model, but that is NOT the point. Nowadays we're so used to seeing skinny models in fashion. It's a norm. It should not even matter who's skinny, curved or tall. We should not even be focusing on the model, we should be paying attention to the clothes. So stop bashing the model for doing her job and showing us the garments. If there's something that you want to critique, critique the clothes. And if today this editorial doesn't seem to please you I'm sure you'll find other fashion sites to browse because there are plenty. Kill my eyes, look 5 is awful. Imagine this, you're a 13 year old girl, at at 5'3 your 110 pound body is rather normal. Suddenly, with puberty you grow to be 5'11 and your 110 pound body suddenly looks rather emaciated. This is what happens to every model and what would happen to you too if you were suddenly to grow as much. Models are SUPPOSED to be thin. They aren't there to be beautiful or there for their stunning, toned figures. They're clothes hangers. The end. You aren't supposed to look at a model and think about her body; you're supposed to think about what she's wearing! This girl is beautiful and looks to be a very successful (if not already!) model in the future.
As for the clothes, the last outfit is the only one that really appeals to me. It's very well put together and tough/chic. I love, love, love the biker jacket! The others are cute but would be hard to wear if one were going somewhere other than the beach.. those erin wasson shorts are to die for. perfect.
http://skinniesandpinnies.blogspot.com This model looks perfectly normal to me! Models are supposed to be skinny and I don't have a problem with their weight. People should really mind their own business and leave fashion alone. For my two cents. I think what so many readers found shocking was how brittle and thin she looks styled in this spread. Esp. in Look 2 she looks positively ectomorphic (and not in a good way). In general I think models who model swimwear and lingerie should be more curvier. And in general, in the industry, they are. (Curvier size 2s or 4s, but curvier none the less) This woman looks shockingly under nourished in swimwear and lingerie. Unfortunately. She is quite a pretty girl tho, esp. in Look 4. MEP said it perfectly! These photos could stand in for the "after" in the before-and-after meth PSA billboards, in very upmarket places, of course. Ughhh. The model's a model, but seriously this spread is terrible. ok i agree with you the model is super skinny. why the hell should i care though?? I'm not as much concerned about the model's weight as I am about the really ugly clothes...I mean...the ice cream man is dressed better. THIS GIRL'S BODY IS UNATTRACTIVE AND A INCREDIBLY BAD EXAMPLE. I'm not saying that you should have to use average sized model... just ones who don't look like they are actually going to drop dead from starvation. There are skinny models, yes, but this IS NOT NORMAL! Stop telling yourself otherwise, nobody is this thin without some sort of unhealthy diet. 1. If you aren't happy with WWW lately, spend your time finding another one of the billion other fashion sites out there to look at rather than complaining on here.
2. The model isn't any skinnier than other models both on here and everywhere else, they just happened to put her in skin tight EVERYTHING. Get over it. edgy summer fashion... big deal. i feel like ive seen 50 versions of this editorial since the mags started showing the spring spreads and collections Geez people, give her a break, she's thin but no more then the average fashion model.. I like the jewelry in the 2nd look and the vest in the 6th, but overall, not a fan of the spread. Perhaps some people are so distracted by the model's weight because in these outfits, she looks like an actual Jacksonville truck stop meth whore. This model is disgusting. I can't hardly see any of the beautiful jewelry or statement outfits because I am so distracted by her weight. Please don't support anorexia by glamorizing models who look like this. I am thoroughly disappointed in WhoWhatWear for this post. i love the splatter shorts and the biker vest! =) EVERYONE STOP HATING ON THE MODEL. And the "give her a sandwich" comment was very out of place, learn some respect. I actually love the spread, i'm in love with the vest on look 6!! The "model" is beautiful and the styling was perfect: for her...I liked the images, creative, great location shots...
But is anyone else wondering who can afford 90% of what was shown? I'm broke... I remember the days when I could/would have spent as much on accessories as on an outfit..but $700 for something to wear with cutoff shorts while riding a bike? I usually love your posts but unfortunately the model distracts from the styling. for some reason i came to believe that www has content that caters to all different kinds of girls, but when i see edis like this i remember thats just not the case. most people in the world do NOT look like this. its just unrealistic.
im not just talking about body size. i scrolled back three pages and the only person featured that wasnt white was jourdan dunn yesterday. www could be a postive example in fashion and its just not happening. The sunglasses in the last look are from Benjamin. Has 14k gold clip on piece.
As for my 2 cents.. I think the model is gorgeous. Yes she is very skinny and she looks amazing. Girls like her are rare.. that's why she is a model. Kay guys, we cannot judge her simply by the way she looks. Eating Disorders also involve a psychological side and a researched medical side. Who knows, she may be naturally skinny.
ABOUT THE CLOTHES: I'm not in love with these outfits. It's apparent that these ensembles would only look good on super skinny people.
http://thatsjustmybag.onsugar.com/ Love the last look!
modernlovewalksonby.blogspot.com When my Aunt was around my age, BANARAMA was " the THING " and she was obsessed. She even got to meet them once, and go in their home!!!!! Lovely editorial. - fashionchalet.BLOGSPOT.com there is a chance that she is naturally skinny, but she looks like a posterchild for disordered eating. i understand fashion models need to fit sample size clothes, and look more attractive when they are slim, but lets be realistic. the greatest demographic of people with this body type are 10 year old boys. she is emaciated. Joyce: you can get those sunglasses at Urban, but I found them at the Thank You Mart in Westwood for about half the price (Urban sucks, hehe).
Hope that helps! Ewwwwwwwww- clothes are trashy. SCREW AVERAGE SIZE MODELS!
This is the FASHION INDUSTRY and these models are used to display the CLOTHING and if you really have an eye for fashion then you'll be able to see that then just looking at the damn model so much. Honestly i'm sick of everyone complaining about skinny models because they feel insecure about themselves.
All of you just need to stop relying on the look as a whole so much, be creative and see how this look could work on you instead of wasting your time whining over skinny models.
Love the editorial and nicely done WWW anyone know the sunglasses the girl is wearing in the 6th look? i ususally love your posts, but this one didn't inspire me at all... and i love street wear. sorry. loooove jewelry by beth lauren
www.bethlauren.com Have any of you ever looked @ the pages of a fashion magazine before? Because honestly, your reactions leave me a little unsure. Is this really the first time you have ever seen a thin model? It's part of the business, get over it. She looks both healthy and gorgeous, and the story is extremely well done! Great job WWW. I love the studded leather vest and the shorts in the first outfit, i want them now!!! STOP! you all are so mean. She is a MODEL who is probably very tall and obviously very young, that's why she's thin. Calling someone too skinny is exactly the same as saying someone is fat. It's so MEAN, you are all so mean...I'm so sick of women who aren't thin trying to make thin seem negative. The styling is amazing. The model does distract from the message though... A curvier model would have showcased the pieces much better IMO. i have to agree with the above posts. that girl is too skinny. as a woman who loves fashion i know that skinny is the norm. however, it would be great to see some girls who didn't look anorexic. literally. add 10 pounds to that girl and she would look great. i love WWW. i check in everyday to see what's new. i will continue to do so. the work you guys do is fantastic. especially since i currently live abroad and cant get my hands on american fashion magazines. This girl is WAY WAY WAYYYY too skinny. The clothes do not look good on her. She looks sick. How sad.
Completely uninspiring spread. usually your postings always spark some sort of inspiration inside of me.. but not this one How disappointing. She looks ill. Get the girl some potato salad. I love almost all of your emails, but this model does not look healthy. I'm disappointed that you are promoting this look, as it clearly crosses the line between model-skinny and anorexic in need of medical treatment. You couldn't find anyone skinnier? I mean, come on! You're fashion stories are usually great, and clearly models are supposed to be skinnier than the average woman, but she seriously looks ill and it does the clothes no justice whatsoever. As a reader of www over the past few months, I have grown to love opening your emails everyday. However, today I have to say I was disappointed. The model Emma, from Ford Models was too skinny!! someone get her a sandwich STAT! wow. she s awesome 7th Street. W00T. |
