What shoes should I invest in for spring? Are there any particular styles or colors that are going to be huge?
When I'm not styling clients, I'm designing shoes with Rachel Bilson and Steve Madden for ShoeMint, so obviously this is a question I've thought about a lot! Having my own collection means shoes are at the forefront of my mind and right now I'm obsessed with three styles: pointed-toe heels, high-top sneakers, and flat metallic sandals. If you're going to invest in a pointy heel, I think you should go for an ultra-sharp stiletto, which is why I'm dying for Casadei's neon green and electric orange versions. I also can't wait for Jenni Kayne's metallic slingbacks to hit stores; they're so sexy, but modern too. A high-top sneaker is another totally cool choice: Lanvin's diamond-print version is fashionable and fun, and I appreciate the hidden wedge in Isabel Marant's high-tops. Of course you also need a flat sandal to round out your shoe wardrobe, and I'm really into metallic styles at the moment. Whether it's a thong or an ankle-strap, something with a simple silhouette is the most versatile choice. You don't have to stick strictly to silver or gold for this trend either. A flat sandal with metallic detailing works too, like this splurge-worthy pair from Balmain! If you don't feel like investing, that's fine.
