How Vogue Editors Are Shopping for Sweater Weather

Sweater weather is upon us, and as the temperature cools, the sartorial possibilities heat up. If you’re looking for some layering inspiration while heading into the new season, take a cue from Vogue editors on the pieces they’ll be introducing to their wardrobes this fall. “Great sweaters are the foundation of every fall wardrobe,” explains a recent article on Vogue.com, where the magazine’s stylish staffers dished on the pieces they’ll be seen in this season.

It comes as no surprise that a fashion-editor favorite is a piece that makes a statement. “Statement sweaters are the right move,” says market editor Kelly Connor, who has her sights on a velvet-trimmed V-neck number from Dries Van Noten. Bold graphics, unexpected materials, and unconventional proportions are just the thing to take a sweater to eye-popping new heights.

On the other hand, even fashion editors like to keep things practical. Emily Rosser, Vogue.com’s photo editor, admits she loves “oversize, cozy knits in the winter.” Her favorite? The handmade sweaters from Babaà crafted in Spain using eco-friendly materials. Sustainability is always in, especially when it comes to sourcing fabrics. And even with so many exciting new silhouettes on the market, you can never go wrong with the time-tested classics. “A cardigan feels really good to me right now layered under an oversize jacket,” admits executive fashion editor Jorden Bickham. “I like to be cozy when the weather turns cold.”
