Born and raised in Los Angeles, Gia Coppola has followed in the footsteps of her talented filmmaking family. Coppola, granddaughter of Francis Ford Coppola and niece of Sofia Coppola, is proving to be a talented screenwriter and director in her own right. Prior to her focus on film, she studied photography at Bard College in New York. After producing some short films for acclaimed fashion brand Opening Ceremony, Coppola made her directorial debut in 2013 with Palo Alto, which stars Emma Roberts and James Franco. She’s also a fashion force to be reckoned with, and she is currently working on the film adaptation of Jean Nathan’s The Secret Life of the Lonely Doll.
