Where Fashion Insiders Shop Vintage Denim in L.A.

Mary Peffer

By now we’ve all gotten the memo, courtesy of the Instagram accounts of Bella Hadid, Behati Prinsloo, Leandra Medine, Kylie and Kendall Jenner, Rumi Neely, Nicole Richie, and the like: Vintage denim is a wardrobe essential. But while we all want the perfect pair, a blind hunt is a tad intimidating. So we thought we’d do you a solid by outing one of the industry’s best-kept secrets, Collection.

Since its opening two years ago, the small brick-and-mortar shop in Los Angeles’s Echo Park has quickly become a favorite among industry veterans. Designers Sarah Staudinger and Racquel Allegra; Paula Goldstein, Annie Georgia Greenberg, and Christene Barberich of Refinery29; stylist Sissy Sainte-Marie; and of course the Who What Wear editorial team have shopped there. Collection owner Elizabeth Parks Kibbey is tapped into the vintage scene at large, as well, participating in collaborative events in New York and L.A. through pop-up marketplace A Current Affair.

While the jeans are currently only sold in-store, Collection revealed earlier this week that there’s an online shop in the works. Until then, you can always peruse Levi’s, Lee’s, and Wranglers via the store’s Instagram feed and call in your order. Jeans (available in sizes 22” to 34”) are priced between $125 and $225, and right now there’s a 30%-off sale to boot! Just be sure to reference our guide to the most flattering style for each body type first, and follow these tips when shopping vintage jeans.
