You'll Never Believe Who Juicy Couture Is Collaborating With
Vetements is the It brand of 2016, and the folks that made a bright yellow DHL-branded tee cool are about to change the fashion game for their upcoming S/S 17 show. Earlier this year, designer Demna Gvasalia announced Vetements would only be doing two runway shows per year, choosing to skip resort and pre-fall. Well, he's going all out for this one, enlisting the help of other designers for the brand's show taking place in the midst of Paris Couture Week—18 designers, to be exact.
While it's not uncommon for designers to collaborate with others for runway shows, this is not your average duo-branded capsule. According to New York Magazine, this idea came to the envelope-pushing designer when the jeans manufactured by Italian factories didn't look like“100 percent authentic” Levi's to Gvasalia. "That’s when I began thinking that the ideal situation would be to work with manufacturers who specialize in each category—whether it’s jeans, T-shirt, bomber jacket,” he tells the magazine. And with that, the designer identified partners that were ideal for the garment he had in mind. So which 18 brands can we expect to make an appearance on the runway? Carhartt, Levi's, Hanes, Manolo Blahnik, Eastpak, Canada Goose, Lucchese, Mackintosh, Dr. Martens, Reebok, Church’s, Alpha Industries, Champion, Kawasaki, Schott, Comme des Garçons, Brioni, and last but not least, the velour-sweatsuit gurus, Juicy Couture.
