How to Determine the Resale Value of Your Designer Items

Thinking of unloading some of your designer wares? Vestiaire Collective has just launched its new Resale Calculator that lets you find out the resale value of your items. You'll be asked to make selections about the brand name, category, product type, model, material, and color, and the calculator will give you an estimate—it's that simple.

You can use it in a myriad of ways: If you're contemplating making a splurge, you can use it to make an informed decision about how much you could sell the item down the line. Or if you already own some pre-loved pieces, the calculator will help you determine how much you can sell it for on sites like Vestiaire.

Every heavy-hitting brand is included in the tool: We're talking Chanel, Hermès, Louis Vuitton, Saint Laurent, and more. And while bags are hugely popular on the resale market, that's not all you can research—shoes, jewelry, scarves, sunglasses, watches, wallets, and hats are just some of the other categories you can look up as well. The more information you have, the better!

Erin Fitzpatrick
Senior News Editor

Erin got her start as a Who What Wear intern over 12 years ago—back when the site only published a single story per day. (Who What Wear has since increased that number twentyfold.) She graduated magna cum laude from USC, which is how she ended up moving to Los Angeles from her hometown of San Diego. In college, she also interned at Refinery29, where she was promoted to editorial assistant and then assistant editor. After nearly three years at R29, she came back to WWW in 2016, where she currently holds the title of senior news editor (as well as the unofficial title of resident royal expert—in case you haven't noticed her numerous Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton stories). She spends her days trying to incorporate her idols, Anna Wintour and Roger Federer, into as many stories as possible. Outside of work, she loves tennis, classic rock, traveling, and smothering her dog with affection.
