Hate Showing Up in the Same Party Dress as Everyone Else? Avoid This Trend
We've seen celebrities from the always stylish Hailey Baldwin to actress Emma Roberts embrace the velvet trend this fall, but there's one item everyone is clamoring for this holiday season. Edited reports that while retailers are shying away from classic evening wear, cocktail dresses of the velvet variety are incredibly popular right now.
"Velvet is up 158% from Fall 2015 and is performing well across all categories," reads the report. And there's one silhouette reigning supreme under the velvet dress umbrella: body-con. Edited notes, "Over a third of new velvet dress arrivals are on body-con silhouettes." However, if the skin-skimming style isn't your cup of tea but you want to rock the trend, then you'll find plenty of velvet slip dresses in the market too—the data from Edited shows that this boudoir-inspired style makes up 19% of velvet dresses sold. So don't be surprised to see plenty of velvet taking over the room at your next holiday party.
