We'll call this one 'modern babuschka' - Take an oversized silk square folded in half, place the edge at the crown of your head and tie a loose knot to side of your chin, Duma-style.

For the rock and roll rebel, take a cue from Kate Moss and toss a long, thin, studded version around  your neck and knot it once at your breastbone.

Feeling like you need to go all Bridget Bardot with this?  Wear a sheer chiffon version as a head kerchief.  You can use a triangular or small square (about 12 inches).  Grab the corners of the longest end, place the long end about an inch above your hairline and bring the corners down alongside the frame of your face, knotting tightly at the nape of your neck.

Another one borrowed from the boys (Boy Scouts that is) - Jessica Hart took an oversized, tissue thin scarf, rolled it and knotted it twice.  If you're feeling fancier, you can just refer to our "how to tie a tie".

    Taylor Tomasi Hill

Leave it to Taylor Tomasi Hill to riff on a classic menswear trick.  Traditionally worn under a tailored jacket, this criss-cross style is turned into the centerpiece of the look, with a heavier weight scarf and a belt to wrangle it in.

So Euro, but in the best way possible:  She wraps once around the neck and lets the ends fall uneven, for a perfectly undone effect.  You can use a classic square or a more rectangular one for this.

Taming the wild west.  This one dates back to the cowboys, but you can update a kerchief styling trick by doing it with a sleek black leather or fringe detail style.  Fold a square scarf in half, grab the corners on each side of the fold, bring them behind your head to the nape of your neck, and make a double knot.
