TV's Coolest Characters Talk About Their Onscreen Style
From Vampire Diaries' Candice Accola to 2 Broke Girls' Beth Behrs, five of television's beloved actresses dish about their character's signature look.

CommentsFor an actress, dressing the part is character building—literally. And we totally covet the coolest ladies’ TV wardrobes. But what do they think? We asked our favorite small-screen stars—Kaitlyn Black from Hart of Dixie, Candice Accola from Vampire Diaries, Jessica Lowndes from 90210, Troian Bellasario from Pretty Little Liars, and Beth Behrs from 2 Broke Girls—what they’d like to see their characters wear.

My personal style:
It’s a little bit of everything: Goth, grunge, punk, and a little bit of classically romantic feminine lines. Mix that with whatever is comfortable. I have an obsession with clothes that have a story behind them, so I’d rather get a hand-me-down jacket from a friend who has loved it to death than a new pair of jeans from the mall.My character’s style:
Spencer's style is classic. She's a very Ralph Lauren kind of girl, with icons like Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly. Spencer is known for thigh-high socks and boots. I wear a lot of riding boots; they have the best build. For prom I have always thought Spencer should wear a massive tartan-print Ralph Lauren ball gown or one by Alexander McQueen.Carven Cotton and Cashmere-Blend Sweater ($430), Frye Lindsay Plate Boots ($368), Oscar de la Renta Baroque Drop Earrings ($275)

My personal style:
I don't think I ever grew out of playing dress up. I love dresses and dramatic vintage jackets. I also refuse to live by the rule that something can only be worn once. I've recently found happiness in my Charlotte Olympia black velvet kitty shoes and a pair of red J Brand jeans. My character’s style:
Caroline’s style is colorful and flirty. She is, and will always be, a small town girl, more likely to be scoring a designer deal at T.J.Maxx than sporting the new Chanel. I'd love to see her in a clean-cut, modern orange pantsuit with her hair slicked back. To give an edge to the girly dresses Caroline does wear, I think she'd rock the neon pink Tibi Contoured Fit and Flare Dress. Graduating from high school and moving on to college, I think Caroline needs a cool new backpack.Charlotte Olympia Cat Face Slippers ($595), Diane von Furstenberg Yahlie Cropped Stretch-Crepe Blazer ($398), TIbi Contoured Fit-and-Flare Dress ($525)

My personal style:
Well, because of playing Caroline for a few years, I feel naked when I leave the house without heels on—preferably wedges, or booties because they're most comfortable for a day of rehearsal or running around. If I'm in flats, it's always my Jenni Kayne black d'Orsay flats. My style is a bit more edgy and modern than Caroline, and unlike Caroline I love to wear black and jeans. My character’s style:
Caroline's style is sophisticated, classy, New York old-money chic. She wears only shades of white, cream, nude, or beige. Chanel, Stella McCartney, and Chloe are some of her go-to brands. She's always in a heel—Brian Atwood, YSL, Fendi, or Gucci. And as you can tell from the show, she loves her pearls. I’d love to see her wear a sexy designer little black dress, a different statement necklace, like a long Jennifer Fisher gold one with charms, or a killer pop-of-color heel.Alexander Wang Paneled Crepe and Silk-Chiffon Dress ($625), Jennifer Fisher Mini Lips Necklace ($550), Topshop Gwenda Pointed Court Shoes ($116)

My personal style:
My shopping havens are J. Crew and Banana Republic. I am most comfortable in jeans, and it’s easy to go from day to night by just switching out your boots/flats for a sexy heel and a t-shirt for a blouse. Shoes are my weaknessMy character’s style:
Annabeth is definitely a Southern belle. She loves dresses, never leaves the house without jewelry, and always chooses heels over flats. She seems to be nostalgic for 1960s fashion. I can’t see AB in jeans, so that fantasy is out. But it would be nice to have a few more casual looks, like a pair of fitted slacks or a cashmere sweater. (Wow, I just said slacks; I sound like my mother.) I’d love AB to incorporate more pencil skirts. They convey a classy and sexy style, and what woman wouldn’t want both?Jimmy Choo Marion Suede Platform Sandals ($795), J.Crew Tippi Sweater ($80), Emma Cook Printed Satin-Twill Pencil Skirt ($268)

My personal style:
I try not to think too much about what I'm putting on. I like to keep it effortless while still looking feminine and chic—comfortable but still put together. My character’s style:
Adrianna is very ladylike, with a vintage, 1940s-inspired style. She's flirty without being overtly sexy, while maintaining a girly balance. I'd love to see her experiment a little more with trends—pastels and peplum or color-blocked black and white. Bold colors and Lucite accessories would be great for her too! They’re a little riskier, but by incorporating them into classic pieces I think it could really take her wardrobe to the next level.Forever 21 Peplum Pencil Skirt ($20), Uniqlo G.V.G.V. Long Sleeve Shirt ($30), Diane von Furstenberg Taite Lucite Heel Sandals ($325)
