Mini Rompers

When the temperature hits triple digits, your Who What Wear editors focus on three things: staying hydrated, coating ourselves in plenty of sunscreen, and, of course the number one priority, we start rotating through a fashion playlist made up of beat-the-heat ensembles. As far as the latter goes, while we definitely still depend on lightweight skater dresses and other summer essentials to get us through the most extreme days, the mini romper is swiftly becoming another standout staple. Already a go-to piece for fashionable ladies like Sienna Miller and Whitney Port, these adorable one-pieces are a necessity for lookingÂ--and feelingÂ--cool right now.

While rompers of all shapes and sizes have been on our radar for a few years, we spotted a truly noteworthy selection of styles in the S/S 10 shows. Karl Lagerfeld sent out cuffed and pleated onesies while Rag & Bone offered a superb style in chambray, but the leader of the pack is definitely Isabel Marant's delicate silk iteration, the Raida ($537, 212.219.2284). The romper's abbreviated hemline, wide-leg silhouette, and feminine details combine to create one must-try piece that's perfect for any summery afternoon.

While Marant showed the mini-romper paired with mid-calf boots and a belt, we prefer the more accessible way our celebrity examples are wearing it. To compliment its easygoing vibe, most fashionable figures are styling their rompers with equally effortless footwear. Whitney Port, for example, was spotted earlier this summer strolling through the West Village wearing a vintage romper in a lively blue print with Havaianas' Flip Flops similar to the Havaianas' Top Sandals ($18). Jessica Alba also opted for a casual combination in Paris late last month; the actress combined Madewell's Clambake Jumper ($118) with strappy flat sandals for a sweetly chic outfit. Of course, sandals aren't a mini-romper requirement, as Sienna Miller and model Ataui Deng (she's Alek Wek's niece!) so deftly demonstrate. Miller mixed menswear-inspired lace-upsÂ--specifically Nicholas Kirkwood's Metallic Paint Oxfords ($795, 646.654.0156)Â--with her bright Twenty8Twelve Dern Romper ($158), while Deng paired peep-toe ankle boots with a multi-color strapless romper for a slightly dressier look.

With these easy-breezy references in mind, we found an abundance of similar mini-romper styles that are sure to satisfy your sartorial appetites. If you're currently craving something in the spirit of Port and Alba's selections, check out Lucca Couture's Chiffon Romper ($58) or Parker's Cami Romper ($187); both options are available in summery prints. If straps aren't your cup of tea, show off your shoulders with Forever 21's Woven Floral Romper ($13), Ever's Arica Printed Romper ($275), or Myne's Donna Romper ($210)Â--all have a Deng-inspired vibe. If you'd prefer something with a minimalistic, Miller-inspired look, try Roxy's Day Trip Romper ($50). It has that same great pop of color, but with an even more desirable price tag. To make sure you have everything you need to pull off this petite-sized trend, we also found a couple of footwear recommendations. If you want to be comfy all day long, pick up a pair of Dolce Vita's Elijah Sandals ($139) or Boutique 9's Pye Sandals ($130), otherwise go for Vera Wang's Abbey Sandals ($275), as they will take your one-piece from day to night!Â--Jessica Baker
