The day may have been drizzly and red carpet decidedly soggy, but Hollywood refused to let the weather put a damper on the SAG Awards. Not only did the stars of both small and big screen turn out, there were even some unexpected (read: fresh) looks walking the press line.

Kate Beckinsale has an excellent picker when it comes to event dresses, as seen by her attention-capturing, canary yellow organza, Luisa Beccaria frock. The dress came with a large flower detail at the waist, which Beckinsale traded for a Van Cleef & Arpel diamond broach. Crimson was the color of choice for Rebecca Gayheart-or Toni Marchette, as she's known 'round the office-who chose a Marchesa dress. Gayheart furthered her classic Hollywood look with Neil Lane diamond and platinum earrings and a Mary Norton clutch. Newbie Kristen Stewart was sophisticated (but not stuffy) in her navy gown with Grecian folds, while Keisha Whitaker chose a similarly detailed dress in cotton candy chiffon. Whitaker embellished her Jenny Packham dress with Neil Lane jewelry and a Daniel Swarovski silver crystal mesh clutch. Another red carpet standout moment came courtesy of Jamie Lynn Sigler, who looked quite chic in Calvin Klein and 12-carat Fred Leighton diamond earrings. We were also seriously charmed by America Ferrera's style at the SAG Awards. Wearing Jimmy Choo's Macy heels and a gray, one shouldered, Monique Lhuillier dress, Ferrera looked totally soigne and self-possessed.

Ashley Tisdale picked an age-appropriate and sweetly sexy Badgley Mishka gown from their Spring 08 Couture collection. The detailing at the neck imparts a sporty vibe and keeps the floor-length frock from looking too bridal. Jena Malone was a thrill in her super fashion-forward Hussein Chalayan dress, Prada heels, and Lelya clutch. While we're sure that pundits won't get her edgy choice, we were so pleased to see someone with a less obvious point of view on the red carpet. Becki Newton chose a tiered Elsie Katz dress that looked very of-the-moment while Olivia Wilde went for an elegant Farah Angsana gown in a soft blue-gray color. Finally, Kate Hudson chose a strapless Balmain number that seemed a sensible selection, given her cashmere hippie personal style. While the dress had a bohemian spirit, Hudson's jewelry was decidedly luxurious. The actress chose a pair of $100,000 Cartier diamond studs to put a little sparkle in the otherwise gray day.
