6 Fashion Items You Should Put Away Now

Now that fall is finally here, we thought it would be a fitting time to make sure our closets are ready for the coming change, both in temperature and day-to-day style. After all, it’s no surprise that some pieces carry over seamlessly from season to season, while others you can afford to put away until the mercury rises again. And, though we will dearly miss the days of off-the-shoulder tops and denim shorts, we’re undeniably excited to bring some of our favorite autumn-appropriate pieces back into rotation, as well as invest in some new, trend-driven ones.

Scroll through for the pieces that can make their way to the back of your closet for now and to see (and shop) the ones to take their places!

Unlike denim shorts, a denim miniskirt can be made to feel fall-ready by simply pairing it with a sweater, ankle boots, coats, tights, and more.

Though we enjoyed our straw bags all through spring and summer, there's no denying that they scream warm weather. Meanwhile, structured bags are perfect for adding polish to a fall look, which, if you're us, usually consists of a sweater and jeans.

Whether you invest in one of falls freshest silhouettes or simply style your jacket to appear as so, an off-the-shoulder jacket has as much appeal as an off-the-shoulder top, without the summery feel.

Since starting as an intern back in 2013, Nicole Akhtarzad Eshaghpour has held several roles here at Who What Wear, and she is currently Editor-at-Large. It was a less expected route, seeing as she was graduating from business school at USC when this all began, but it has turned out to be the best one for her. Fast-forward to 2020, and she's moved to NYC from her hometown of Beverly Hills and spends her workdays a little differently from when she was an intern starting out. Currently, she focuses on a weekly mélange of shopping content. As far as her personal style goes, she's largely drawn to classic pieces and neutral basics but will always make an exception for something colorful, printed, or bejeweled as long as it's deemed worthy enough. After all, the only thing she loves more than a good party is dressing up for one. On weekdays, she can usually be found at home eating something delicious for dinner and trying to force her husband to watch 90 Day Fiancé.
