Q&A with Miroslava Duma
Please describe your personal style in two sentences or less.
My style is very versatile. It is hard to describe as it changes day to day and is very much based on how or what I feel. If I had to describe it, I would say that I am fond of well-tailored and eclectic pieces with elegant, sometimes minimalistic, clean pieces, mixed in a creative way with funky accessories such as chunky heels, big necklaces, heavy scarves, and beanies. So if I'm describing my style in one word, I may say it's experimental. I try new trends because I work with it every day.
How does the city you live in inspire your day-to-day style?
I live in Moscow but I would not say that Moscow shapes most of my style. I am more inspired by the ones I love, my friends, people I work with, books, nature, feelings, and colors.
List some of your favorite current trends and why you appreciate them/how you are wearing them.
I love that feminine, soft, tender looks are back because I appreciate being a woman. I am also quite petite so I am very happy that platforms and chunky heels are in, as that allows me to add quite a few inches to my frame. I am a big fan of colors so I really appreciate that one can make a statement wearing bold colors.
Who are some of your style icons and why?
I would have to say that my likes are very diverse, from the legendary Coco Chanel to Grace Kelly, Jackie Kennedy, Tilda Swinton, Chloe Sevigny, Nancy Reagan, and Raisa Gorbachev.
Name one go-to piece in your closet and why.
My Chanel jackets. They are such versatile, classic, beautiful, and feminine pieces of clothing that I adore wearing on their own or adding to top off an outfit as an accessory.
What are some of your favorite places to shop?
In Moscow, I love Aizel and Tsum. In London, I love Dover Street Market, Sloane Street, and Bond Street. In Paris, I love Colette. In New York, I love Opening Ceremony, Barneys, and Bergdorf Goodman. I also love to shop for my baby boy at FAO Schwarz where I get lost in the endless toy department.
What are some of your fashion sites/blogs?
Over a year ago I launched a web-based project called Buro247.ru, which fortunately became very popular in Russia. It is a website that covers everything from fashion to news, politics, lifestyle, travel, the luxury market, and much more. We have 25 news feeds per day that keep changing constantly to keep our readers informed and interested. The website has been growing tremendously and we are now looking to expand into providing a variety of services. We already have a licensed version of Buro 24/7 in Eastern Europe in Croatia, and are about to launch a UK version of Buro247.com. In addition, we are expanding into Asia, the Middle East, and America. Please check us out and stay put for an English version to come out very soon.--Tiffany Tse
