A black and white palette tones down a bold print.
A patterned maxi dress is always a festive option, but finding the perfect way to wear such a statement piece can sometimes be tricky. Luckily, Kaitlin Isabella, 24, from New York, presented us with an excellent way to execute such a look when she opted for a bold-print, floor-length frock in a restrained black and white palette. The combination of the stark colors and the maxi's streamlined silhouette appropriately temper the graphic design, resulting in an A+ ensemble we can't wait to recreate. Accordingly, we'd pick up Michael Michael Kors' Printed Stretch-Jersey Dress ($130), Forever 21's Striped Maxi Dress ($22.80), or ASOS' Printed Shift Dress ($60), all of which can be accessorized with open-toe platforms and a gray chapeau for a Kaitlin Isabella-inspired ensemble!
Spring colors plus wintry items equal instant chic.
We know dressing for transitional weather can often pose a challenge, so when we came across Amanda, 16, from Sweden, and her unexpected mix of spring-like light colors and of-the-moment furry accents, we were duly thrilled. Her pale top half is a welcome deviation from basic black winter staples, while her cozy faux fur stole is a practical choice for the inclement weather. In order to execute Amanda's stylish seasonal blend, start by selecting a light pink button-down shirt like Equipment's Classic Washed CDC Blouse ($175), and then pair it with a winter-white cardigan like Free People's Fine Gauge Long Cardigan ($108). Lastly, it's not too late to spring for that faux fur; we like either Burning Torch's Faux Fur Jacket ($480), Topshop's Faux Fur Gilet ($135), or Bop Basics' Faux Fur Stole ($78), all of which are sure to complete your wonderful winter look.
High-contrast neutrals add up to one very spot-on outfit.
Camel coats are currently one of the biggest outerwear trends, and we love how Laura, 21, from Amsterdam, chose to highlight her belted iteration with different shades of brown for an intriguing neutral mix. Additionally, we appreciate the way she contrasted two ladylike pieces--a structured bag and a classic coat--with borrowed-from-the-boys lace-up boots. To snag some of Laura's impeccable style, begin by investing in a great coat like ASOS' Belted Wool Coat ($164), which will instantly upgrade any ensemble. Selecting darker-hued accessories is key, so be sure to check out Jeffery Campbell's Proper Field Boots ($178) and pick up a handbag with some feminine panache. We think either Kimchi Blue's Suede Buckle Bag ($68) or the Boxy Lady Leather Bag ($100) from Topshop is guaranteed to fulfill that ladylike craving and provide the perfect finish to your Laura-worthy outfit.
Red leather pants enliven a slew of all-black staples.
Ever since we saw Isabel Marant's F/W 10 collection, we've had a serious crush on red leather pants, and we love how Chiara, 23, from Milan, used a cropped pair in contrast with some winter-worthy black essentials. The crimson hue provides a directional pop of color, while the shorter hemline is right on trend for spring. Additionally, we can't help but admire how Chiara further added intrigue to her look by piling on the texture with a furry black vest. In order to execute Chiara's editor-worthy outfit, be sure to pick up some vermilion leather pants like Vera Moda's Cropped Leather Pants ($293), which hit right at the ankle so you can show off Frye's Miranda Chelsea Boots ($248). Then snatch up that fuzzy gilet--we like J. Crew's Charlize Vest ($598)--and you'll have yourself a killer, fashion-forward ensemble.
Textured coats + boots look amazing when worn together.
We're always looking to spice up our winter wear, so we were immediately inspired by Doina, 16, from Moldova, and her unexpected coat-and-boots mix! Her velvet, tiered coat and patterned, fur-trimmed boots make for a visually stunning ensemble, while the luxe materials give her outfit an extra dose of sartorial sophistication. In order to achieve a similar look, scoop up some knee-high boots like Stuart Weitzman's Troll Boots ($542) and contrast them with the Collarless Faux Fur Coat ($129) from ASOS.
Lots of woolly layers + a big-brimmed hat work right now.
When the weather turns really nasty, dapper dressing can appear to be the most impossible of tasks. Thankfully, Whitney, 26, from Tennessee, has got it covered with her impeccable snow-bunny layers. Her expertly shrouded outfit is both practical and chic, and we love how she topped it off with an of-the-moment big-brimmed hat. Stay cozy like Whitney by picking up a few good scarves; we like ASOS Warehouse's Bobble Knit Snood ($31) and Leigh & Luca's Stud Dust Scarf ($125), which can be worn together, or on their own once the sun finally comes out! Most importantly, head out of the house in style by throwing on Boutique to You's Floppy Hat ($24), Topshop's Whipstitch Flat Floppy Hat ($50), or Hat Attack's Angora Medium Brim Hat ($64), all top-notch toppers that are ideal for completing your bundled winter look.--Liza Kaplan
