Irina Lazareanu

Irina Lazareanu
We often note that many young ladies in the limelight seem to have the same attitude about their personal style that we do about plant care (equal parts frantic attention and total neglect). Fortunately for us, there are a few hard working, thoughtfully fashionable types out there who don't have such equivocal attitudes about getting dressed. Take Irina Lazareanu for example; the ballerina-turned-model-turned-musician has a highly personal look that's always quite stalker-worthy.

Before we break down one of Lazareanu's latest looks, we have a wee primer on the girl for those unfamiliar with her name. The Canada-raised brunette is a major muse for many big fashion houses (King Karl loves her) and is one of the most popular runway models around. She walked in a record-breaking 76 shows during the various fashion weeks for S/S 07 collections.

Style-wise, Laz has several signatures: she's usually clad in something rock n rollish, loves hats of any kinds, and has fantastically lush bangs. Her sort of gritty-but-glam chic was on display when she recently attended the opening of Sita Murt's flagship store in Barcelona. She captured our attention with her black on black outfit, which was made interesting via extra-long leggings tucked into black patent stilettos and the addition of a few smart accessories. We pulled together some like-minded pieces inspired by Lazareanu's look, just read on for the details!

1. TIGI Bed Head Tourmaline Nano-Ceramic Dual Waver ($49.99)
If you look closely, you too just might be entranced by the languid waves of Lazareanu's hair. Create your own casually tousled style with a little help from a hot tool like TIGI's waver.

2. Dior Pro Cheeks Ultra-Radiant Blush 545 Hip Peach ($30)
A complexion like Miss Irina's is a desirable thing. Fortunately for those of us who were not born with her peaches-and-cream skin, it's easy to fake it for a relatively low price. Dior's cream blush is a must-buy for those pursuing perfectly natural cheeks.

3. Missy Sweater Cardigan ($22.80)
Next, we found this lightweight, short-sleeved knit cardigan. While most of us have way too many black sweaters, this one is still worth picking up because the deep-v neckline is quite flattering to most figures.

4. Raw Edge Taffeta Skirt ($70)
While Laz is wearing a dress over her leggings and under her sweater, most of us don't really need the bulk of an additional layer. Instead, we found a full skirt with a similar slight sheen and a fantastic price.

5. RSVP Julia Heels in Black Patent ($79.95)
If for some reason you don't have a pair of high heeled, round toed, black patent leather pumps, we suggest you nab these immediately. We promise you'll wear them with so many things! This pair is very affordable and has a slight platform in front, making the four-inch heel slightly easier on your back.

6. Cha Cha Dotty Hat ($196)
Naturally we had to add a hat to this Style Stalker, so we found a fantastic felt topper that has gold detailing on the band and leather trim.

7. Extra Long Legging ($30)
These are not your average American Apparel leggings, dear readers. Their extra long length makes them perfect to tuck into heels for that ballet-dancer-going-to-warm-up look.

8. Eugenia Kim Elastic and Patent Leather Belt ($185)
We knew finding the right belt was essential for this story because it really was one of the standout items in the above outfit. This wide waist belt has a slick, slide front closure and is also available in navy and dark purple.
