Given Sweden's burgeoning fashion scene, it comes as no surprise that the same country that brought us first-rate brands like H&M, Acne, and Whyred is home to so many influential dressers too. Accordingly, we've decided to dedicate this month's Style Stalker to one of Sweden's most stylish natives and our current girl crush: Columbine Smille.A few glances at Smille's inspirational fashion blog and we knew right away we had an expert on our hands, one with an editor's eye for superior clothing and accessories and the sartorial know-how of an esteemed stylist. Simply put: we admire this brunette beauty's easygoing, fashion-forward aesthetic, and are delighted to share seven of her most noteworthy outfits with you today!
After studying Smille's fantastic repertoire of ensembles, it became clear that for this Swedish stunner, building a top-notch ensemble starts with a foundation of simple and classic pieces. Wardrobe essentials, like boyfriend jeans, basic t-shirts, and chunky knitwear, play a major role in our subject's day-to-day outfits, but she livens up her entire look by simply adding a pop of color or mix of interesting prints. In addition to a fondness for statement-making patterns and bold color combos, we also appreciate Smille's affinity for sporty and military-inspired outerwear. Windbreakers and field jackets hint at our subject's predilection for cool, functional layers, while simultaneously offering her timeless pieces an of-the-moment look.
In addition to unveiling the exact details of each of today's featured looks, and showing you how to create similar outfits, we thought it would be fun to get to know Smille a little better with a quick Q&A. Happily, she obliged and let us in on everything from her favorite places to shop to the one go-to piece in her closet. Read on to learn more about what inspires this tastemaker.--Jessica Baker

Please describe your personal style in two sentences or less.
I love mixing bold prints and colors and playing with contrasts; the contrast is what makes the outfit interesting. Also, I'm all for layering, but in a feminine sort of way. Just because you don't show that much skin doesn't mean that it's not sexy. For me, that's way more confident.
How does the city you live in inspire your day-to-day style?
Since the weather in Sweden is quite cold (except the three months of summer, which can be like summer in south Europe), layering is perfect. Even when it's summer, I love to wear a loose fitted dress (preferably with prints) paired with a knitted sweater and an oversized leather vest. Add a pair of statement sandals (yes, with a high heel, I almost always wear heels) and you have the perfect outfit for all the summer parties.
List some of your favorite current trends and why you appreciate them/how you are wearing them.
Right now, I'm very into oversized silhouettes-loose-fit pieces and baggy denim pants. I combine a pair of distressed boyfriend jeans with a striped sweater or a printed t-shirt, a patent leather jacket, and a pair of bright colored heels. If I'm going out, I'll wear my little Chanel bag with a cross-body chain strap. It's comfy yet elegant, just the way I like it!
Who are some of your style icons and why?
I'm very inspired by strong women that have their own take on how to put together looks, and I've always been quite fascinated by Leonor Scherrer. She looks so powerful and confident, and even though her style is very different from the way I like to dress she just has IT. It's impossible not to be intrigued by her. Also, Iris Apfel is a great inspiration for me, as well as Michael Jackson. I really have a thing for bling; my friends think I'm obsessed with metallics.
Name one go-to piece in your closet and why.
A Breton-striped sweater. It can never go wrong or out of style, it's one of those classic pieces that work with anything and everything. I'm actually wearing one from Cos right at this moment.
What are some of your favorite places to shop?
I always go to Cos for great basics. If I'm in Spain, I love to go to Üterque. Also, I'm a big fan of Acne, of course. If you're in Stockholm, you shouldn't miss paying a visit to their archive store where you can find great showpieces, clothes, shoes, and accessories from past seasons that have been re-made. I shop for shoes at Net-a-porter.com. I just love the feeling of opening a shoe box, especially if you've waited for it.
