Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley
As a major model--she's the face of Burberry Beauty and the brand's just-announced new fragrance, Burberry Body, a Victoria's Secret Angel, and on the cover of British ELLE this month--Rosie Huntington-Whiteley certainly knows how to look good in front of the camera. But creating stunning editorial and advertisement images is a decidedly different art than making major red-carpet moments, so we weren't quite sure what to expect when Huntington-Whiteley started her press tour for Transformers: Dark Side of the Moon. While we can't say we've seen the movie yet, we are certain about one thing: Huntington-Whiteley has been killing it lately with truly standout looks at every premiere and after-party. She's even extra-chic in her off-duty hours, as today's Style Spotlight showcases!

The British beauty tends to go for ultra-glamorous ensembles on the red carpet--and more on that in a minute--hints of which you can see in her day-to-day personal style too. For example, she was snapped earlier this summer in New York wearing an outfit that was both relaxed and camera-ready thanks to a deft combination of perfectly worn-in jeans (Hippie Fade Skinny Jeans ($194) from Jet by John Eshaya) and an ornate, embellished Isabel Marant jacket from the S/S 11 collection. Paired with a latte-colored Alexander Wang Rocco Bag (her exact pick is sold out, but it's still available in bone), a wide-brimmed Rag & Bone Kingsley Wool Fedora ($160), and slouchy Isabel Marant Rosie boots, the result is the perfect mix of high-end bohemian and French editor flair.

While her daytime ensembles are certainly covetable, we also have the utmost appreciation for the impactful dresses Huntington-Whiteley selects for her work events. She seems to split her red-carpet picks between one of two camps: old Hollywood glamour and fashion-forward looks. For example, at the German premiere of Transformers: Dark Side of the Moon, the model/actress wore an open-back, metallic sequined Naeem Khan Cap-Sleeve Trumpet Gown ($7800, available at Bergdorf Goodman in late August) and styled her hair swept to one side (top row, left). The resulting look is truly timeless and the epitome of silver-screen style. We also adored the tiger print Dolce & Gabbana dress Huntington-Whiteley picked for the MTV Movie Awards last month (bottom row, left)--it's so Sophia Loren! (The dress is from the F/W 11 collection and will be arriving in stores in late August or early September; be sure to check Dolce & Gabbana's new e-shop for purchasing information.) Instead of going for a traditional stiletto, Huntington-Whiteley selected a wedge--Sergio Rossi's Tricolor Patent Totem Wedge Sandals ($695) to be exact--which helps to modernize the bombshell frock.

In addition to these screen-siren ensembles, Huntington-Whiteley also embraces her editorial background too, and wears edgier looks with equal aplomb. We were gobsmacked by the sheer-skirted Gucci dress she picked for an appearance at the Moscow International Film Festival late last month (bottom row, right). The black and acid yellow gown--runway look #47, which retails for $7500 and is available later this summer--is directional, dramatic, and perfect for the occasion. Huntington-Whiteley opted for another noteworthy look at the Transformers after-party in London, this time a studded white Burberry Prorsum frock from the Resort 12 collection with a head-turning, cut-out front (top right). The dress has a thigh-high slit and studded, fringed shoulders, the combination of which has a military-meets-Studio-54 allure.

If you are ready to transform your wardrobe and style some Huntington-Whiteley-inspired looks, we're here to help! To achieve an outfit similar to the featured off-duty look, we suggest starting with RHW's exact Jet jeans and then adding a neutral-hued hat, like Sportmax's Felted Wool Fedora Hat ($130) or American Apparel's Wool Floppy Hat ($40) for a more '70s-style look. Grab a printed jacket--like People Tree By Laura Ashley's Floral Print Blazer ($81) or Coldwater Creek's Paisley Embellished Jacket ($50)--some slouchy boots, such as Aldo's Cirocco Boots ($120), and a pale blush bag, Zara's Double Handle City Bag ($50) is a good pick, and you'll be set!

We're also happy to report that emulating Huntington-Whiteley's old-Hollywood party looks is equally easy as creating her more casual ensembles. Instead of a floor-length sparkly silver gown, we like Alice + Olivia's Silver Sequin Marina Dolman Sleeve Dress ($235) or the long-but-less-fancy A.L.C. Theo Ruched Stretch-Jersey Maxi Dress ($360). For a perfect animal-print ensemble, try Camilla and Marc's Blind Call Leopard Dress ($460), which has a very similar shape to her exact Dolce & Gabbana pick! As for our spotlighted stunner's embellished white dress, you can wait for Burberry Prorsum's Resort 12 collection to hit stores, or you can pick up a Halston Heritage Stretch Knit Cocktail Dress ($325) right now. Last but not least, it's time to address Huntington-Whiteley's knockout sheer-skirted Gucci ensemble. If you're attracted to the color and one-shouldered silhouette of this look, but want a more wearable iteration, don't miss ASOS' One Shoulder Dress with Corsage ($103). Though not acid yellow, we also like the idea of pairing a dramatically ruffled top, such as Tory Burch's One-Shoulder Silk-Blend Lame Top ($400), with a long diaphanous skirt, like Rag & Bone's Silk Maxi Skirt ($395) or Evil Twin's Ulterior Motive Mesh Maxi Skirt ($92). The resulting outfit will certainly make a big impact and is perfect for a festive summer evening!
