If you follow Osbourne at all, you've probably noticed that she still loves to reference her gothic roots by wearing lots of dark dresses. But that doesn't mean she has a closet full of boring black frocks; no, Osbourne definitely knows how to give each one a unique and fresh look via noteworthy accents. For example, during NYFW in September, Osbourne was spotted backstage at the Tracy Reese show wearing said designer's Lace Yoke Dress ($395). We love the way Osbourne gave the feminine frock a little more personality by adding a silver cross necklace and cobalt blue Yves Saint Laurent's Palais Platform Pumps ($720), which really made her outfit pop (bottom row, far left). Later that evening, Osbourne was snapped leaving the Standard Hotel (top row, right) wearing a different LBD, specifically Veda's Electric Dress ($385, 646.524.5137). This time, she gave her look an extra bit of panache via a bronze metallic Erin Fetherston blazer and Stella McCartney sandals. But her collection of black frocks doesn't stop there! Two days later, at an after-party celebrating Mulberry's S/S 11 show (top row, middle), Osbourne wore another darling noir party dress, this time with a pair of gray lace-up ankle booties and oversized black glasses for a prim-yet-playful look.
Now, our style star may fancy all-noir pieces, but she is no one-note wonder in the wardrobe department! In fact, Osbourne has shown us that she's not afraid to take fashion risks via an eye-catching print or vibrant colors. Case in point: the Betsey Johnson Floral Sheath Dress ($268, available in Betsey Johnson stores next month) she wore to said designer's show during NYFW (top row, right). Although the cut of the frock is decidedly modest, its colorful print and the periwinkle Yves Saint Laurent shoes Osbourne added gives the outfit a fresh and playful touch. That same day, we spotted Osbourne around Lincoln Center sporting another delightful print (bottom row, middle). Although a more sober choice than her previous selection, her neutral Chris Benz Esplande Dress ($1295, 610.667.1550) is a spot-on pick for a fancy daytime fete. While we adore the dress, we must compliment Osbourne on her beauty look too; the combination of her polished hair and red lipstick pulled the whole ensemble together and made it even more chic.
Of course, Osbourne's style playbook is not all sweet party dresses and ladylike silhouettes. You can still find hints of her tough-girl attitude throughout her wardrobe, like the '50s bad girl-inspired G-Star Correct Line Suit Jacket ($190, 323.648.6028) and Midge Cropped Short ($130, 323.648.6028) she wore with Zara Terez's 108th St. Clutch ($225) to the G-Star S/S 11 show (bottom row, right) or the outfit she chose for the Erin Fetherston preview at Milk Studios during NYFW (far right). Regarding the latter, Osbourne demonstrated her ability to juxtapose a whimsical dress--Erin Fetherston's Marianne Dress ($568, available here in white lace) to be exact--with a leather moto jacket, specifically Le Petit Petit Heartbreaker Jacket ($1150), and a teased pompadour for a stellar uptown-meets-downtown look.
Now that we've highlighted a handful of Osbourne's standout ensembles, we've got a few suggestions on how you can snag her wardrobe essentials and create some picture-perfect looks of your own. If you've already started making preparations for your upcoming holiday soirees, you'll definitely want to grab BCBGMAXAZRIA's Faux-Leather Panel Dress ($228), BB Dakota's Daven Mesh Dress ($88), or Robert Rodriguez's Joan Lace Inset V-Neck Dress ($297); all three bombshell picks are sure to make heads turn. Just take an idea from Osbourne's lookbook and pair them with a vibrant shoe, like Steve Madden's Kattrina Pumps ($100), or a shimmering blazer; two of our favorites include Alice + Olivia's Elyse Metallic Blazer ($330) and Surface to Air's Metallic Blazer ($500). Feel like channeling her nerdy-chic outfit choice instead? Pair Calvin Klein's Lace Tie-Front Short Sleeve Dress ($100) with Jessica Simpson's Kakia Booties ($98) and Urban Outfitters' Holly Readers ($14) for an inexpensive, stellar Osbourne-esque look.
If you like to mix things up a bit with an occasional flashy print, we suggest trying Paul Smith's Interior Floral Wrap Dress ($312) or ASOS' Paprika Knitted Floral Midi Length Dress ($35). Of course if Osbourne's muted-print choice is more your cup of tea, JAX's Metallic Brocade Sheath Dress ($158) is a chic daytime option, especially if worn with a glittery shoe, like Steve Madden's Scandall Pumps ($110). For a head-to-toe Osbourne-inspired look, simply accessorize your look with Elle Nicole's Janis Quilted Convertible Bag ($43). It's a spot-on and less pricy alternative to her beloved Chanel carrier.
Finally, your Osbourne-emulating wardrobe would not be complete without a few edgy staples, including a black leather jacket; try Topshop's Biker Jacket ($270) for a similar look. Now how you choose to style it is up to you, but we particularly like the way Osbourne layered it over delicate frock. Or you could always go for a more casual look and throw a hint of our style subject's punk rock attitude into your daily mix. To achieve that, simply snag ASOS' What Tee ($31) and pair it with Rozae by Rozae Nichols Cropped Leggings ($130) for a cool downtown combo.--Jessica Baker
