Emma Stone

While Emma Stone continues to build one heck of a career on the silver screen-the rising starlet has three buzz-worthy films out this year (Friends with Benefits, Stupid Crazy Love, and The Help) and a major blockbuster in the works (The Amazing Spider-Man)-her equally impressive sartorial resume is not lost on us either! In addition to the fact that the 23-year-old continues to top numerous best-dressed lists with her flawless red-carpet attire-including our Golden Globes coverage two years in a row!-we couldn't help but notice her off-duty ensembles are just as stylish and spot-on. Whether she's executing this season's hottest color combo with aplomb or working an effortless mix of casual neutrals, there's no doubt Stone is the perfect subject for this month's Style Spotlight!

&cjskuOne of the most noteworthy aspects of Stone's approach to dressing is that she doesn't always play it safe, especially when it comes to red-carpet events. We appreciate her willingness to experiment with a mix of bold colors or a statement-making print, as the resulting looks are fashion forward and always memorable. Case in point: the fabulous ensemble she put together for the Met Gala earlier this year. Stone looked absolutely stunning in a custom-made Lanvin rose-print silk-satin gown, which is perfect in keeping with this season's big florals trend. And while the dress is noteworthy on its own, it was her decision to add a pair of deep blue crystal drop earrings (also by Lanvin) and hot pink lipstick that gave the whole look a glamorous finish. Of course, that's not the only eye-popping outfit in Stone's repertoire! The actress caught our attention again a few months later at the New York premiere of Friends with Benefits when she wore the Red Wool Sweater ($650) and Fuchsia Wool Skirt ($1590) from Giambattista Valli's F/W 11 collection. We're mad about this of-the-moment color combo-which looks quite lovely with her fair skin and gorgeous red locks-and were particularly pleased with her minimal accessories, which included a pair of nude Christian Louboutin pumps, Salvatore Ferragamo's Bronze Lizard Minaudiere ($2350, 800.628.8916), and a Jack Vartanian ring.

While it's no surprise we're huge fans of Stone's show-stopping ensembles, there's certainly something to say for her more subdued choices as well! Whether it involves sultry lace or intricate accents, these outfits are supremely stylish and garner plenty of attention. For example, we went gaga for the Bottega Veneta F/W 11 dress she wore to the MTV Movie Awards two months ago. Featuring a beautiful lace overlay, strapless gold mini dress, and fringe detailing, the frock is both elegant and playful, making it a fitting pick for the youthful event. Stone showed off another lacey look at a Chanel Pre-Oscar dinner earlier this year, only this time she went for an ankle-grazing Chanel dress from the S/S 11 collection. To add further interest to the crisscross frock, Stone layered on a navy cropped jacket from said fashion house's Resort 11 collection and finished with Jimmy Choo's Lancer Crystal-Embellished Suede Sandals ($865), giving the overall outfit a ladylike-meets-bohemian feel.

Finally, today's Style Spotlight wouldn't be complete without noting at least one of the totally cute outfits Stone puts together when she's off the clock. When this leading lady isn't wowing crowds at premieres or creating flashbulb-worthy moments at fashion events, you can find her working a cool, downtown look. For example, we spotted Stone out and about in the East Village a few months ago wearing a Rick Owens leather jacket with a nautical-striped tee, Rag & Bone's The Skinny Jeans ($133) in Used Gray, and Lanvin flats, resulting in a spot-on mix of neutrals.

If you're ready to channel Stone's fashion-forward sensibilities, you'll be happy to know we've got all the necessities, including a few tips on how to execute her noteworthy ensembles with ease. If you're feeling a bit daring and hoping to recreate our style subject's bright red and pink mix, we suggest picking up American Apparel's Sheer Jersey Long Sleeve T ($26) or Zara's Embroidered T-Shirt ($30) and wearing either option tucked into Yumi Kim's Tulip Skirt ($128) for a playfully chic after-hours ensemble. Those who fancied Stone's dramatic floral moment should snag ASOS' Bandeau Maxi Dress with Floral Print ($60) pronto, however, if you're searching for a more playful party option, we think BCBMAXAZRIA's Gray Pleated Strapless Cocktail Dress ($215) is an outstanding alternative that's perfect for a girls' night out!

Additionally, we're smitten with Alice + Olivia's High-Neck Lace Dress ($597) and Milly's Adrienne Lace Dress ($345), as they are both incredibly chic cocktail dresses that also happen to be spot-on alternatives to Stone's lovely Bottega Veneta pick. Of course if it's a maxi dress you're after, don't hesitate to check out Eight Sixty's Lace Maxi Dress ($81); just be sure to style it with a structured jacket, like Aryn K.'s Cropped Vintage Jacket ($95), to give the whimsical frock a sophisticated finish a la Stone. Finally, if it's Stone's cool, casual mix you're after, start with Ann Taylor's Modern Print Stripe Top ($78) and pick up her exact Rag & Bone jeans or snag Divine Rights of Denim's more affordable Ankle Zip Skinnies ($28). Once you have your shirt and jeans sorted, finish your outfit with a leather jacket-ASOS' Collarless Quilted Leather Biker Jacket ($207) and Full Tilt's Faux Leather Moto Jacket ($40) should do the trick-and you'll have yourself a smart, Stone-inspired fall look in a flash.-Jessica Baker
