Charlize Theron

Charlize Theron
Charlize Theron may play the evil queen in this month's Snow White and the Huntsman, but ask any mirror around and it will tell you that when it comes to invariably chic style both on the red carpet and in real life, the actress is truly the fairest of them all. Though most famously known for her bewitching looks and spectacular on-screen performances-she's also in the summer sci-fi thriller Prometheus, out now-Theron's exquisite taste and penchant for easy elegance has never been lost on us. Whether it's a romantic frock or polished airport ensemble, perfectly tousled locks or a chic red lip, the South African native always gets it right, and her irrefutable fashion sense has landed her in our June Style Spotlight!

On the Red Carpet
Theron's sartorial range on the red carpet-which ranges from sharp and daring to prim and ladylike-never ceases to excite us. Earlier this year, at the BAFTA Awards tea party in Los Angeles, the actress went for a refined look (bottom, right), selecting Stella McCartney's Lace Peplum Dress ($3995), flawlessly punctuated with nude Christian Louboutin sandals and Bottega Veneta's Mini Knot Clutch ($1380). Slicked-back hair and natural eye makeup kept the look feeling elegant and fresh, while bold red lips made for a stunning finish. In contrast to that very feminine and decidedly demure pick, we're also smitten with the Dior Haute Couture Black Silk Dress (price upon request, 800.929.DIOR) Theron wore to the London premiere of Snow White and the Huntsman last month (bottom, left). With a dramatic, Gothic glamour vibe, the semi-sheer, floor-grazing gown--styled here with Solange Azagury--Partridge emerald jewelry-demonstrates Theron's ability to execute edgier looks with ease.

At Events
Off the red carpet, Theron's ensembles are wholly desirable too! With her affinity for streamlined silhouettes and interesting footwear, the results are effortlessly chic and always noteworthy. Spotted out in New York a few weeks ago (top, left), the actress embraced a minimalist aesthetic, wearing a sleek black shift dress from the Lanvin F/W 12 collection. For a polished finish, she accessorized her perfectly pared-down look with Christian Louboutin's Decoupata Strappy Boots ($1295), a thin black watch, and two silver bangles. Theron reached for an unfussy combination once again while promoting Snow White and the Huntsman in Germany last month (top, right). We love the understated combination of her Rag & Bone Iris Shirttail Hem Top ($290), Alexander Wang two-tone skirt, and Giuseppe Zanotti t-strap sandals; though it errs on the casual side for this event, the clean lines and neutral colors make for a very stylish and directional result.

Off-Duty
As you've probably gathered by now, Theron is attracted to polished pieces with a cool and easy vibe, a quality that is carried through her off-the-clock outfits as well. For example, we came across the leading lady at JFK airport a few weeks ago and were immediately drawn to her laid-back, sophisticated mix (large image). With the help of a gray blazer, white tee, cropped jeans, and Yosi Samra's Metallic Flats ($70) in Muted Powder, Theron assembled a comfortably chic en route ensemble that should be on your wardrobe itinerary this summer too!

On You
While Theron's beauty may be unparalleled, let us assure you that attaining her chic sensibilities is something everyone can do! To prove this point, we've rounded up an assortment of key pieces to help you create some Theron-inspired looks of your own. First, you'll want to pick up a few dress options-you never know when an extravagant event will pop up on your calendar! To emulate her stunning Dior look, go for a halter maxi dress in a semi-sheer fabric, like French Connection's Halter Maxi Dress ($261). We'd also like to direct you to Badgley Mischka Collection's Floral-Print Peplum Dress ($291) and Zara's Dress with Frill At The Hip ($90), which both bear a striking resemblance to Theron's Stella McCartney frock. Prefer a sleeker selection? Channel our style subject's Lanvin pick with either Vince's Sleeveless Shift Dress ($395) or Calvin Klein's Sleeveless Sheath Dress ($129.50). Just be sure to add some strappy sandals, like Ann Taylor's Harper Gladiator Sandals ($248), to add interest to your minimal look.

Once you have your dressier options sorted, it's time to gather a few necessary separates. A knit pencil skirt is always a good item to have on hand, so follow Theron's lead and snag a two-tone style like See by Chloe's Two-Tone Stretch Wool-Blend Mini Skirt ($375) or Forever 21's Colorblocked Ponte Knit Skirt ($16). We promise you'll love the slimming silhouette! Add Mango's Slim-Fit Round Neck Jumper ($40) and a pair of fancy heels--we like Topshop's Reim Skinny Strap Sandals ($90) and B Brian Atwood's Campisa Suede Pumps ($400)--to incorporate even more Theron panache to your outfit. When mimicking the actress' easygoing on-board look, a combination like Coldwater Creek's Curved Hem Knit Jacket ($70), Kain's Classic Modal and Silk-Blend T-Shirt ($90), J. Crew's Ankle Stretch Toothpick Jeans ($125), and Sam Edelman'sFelicia Metallic Flats ($90) is exactly what you need! To complete your Theron transformation, keep your beauty look low-key and fresh-that means minimal eye makeup and subtly rosy cheeks-with a bold red lip (try Vincent Longo's Velvet Riche Rejuvenating Lipstick ($23) in Dakota Red), and you're sure to have all eyes on you at your next outing!--Jessica Baker
