Marc Jacobs’ six-minute, mod-inspired S/S 13 collection for Louis Vuitton was the talk of Paris Fashion Week, and became an instant red carpet favorite, too. Many of Hollywood’s leading ladies, including Jessica Alba, Kirsten Dunst, and Kerry Washington, found their (check) mate in the fashion house’s attention-grabbing checkerboard dresses.

The high-fashion sneaker was a game-changer in 2013. Who knew the sporty essential would look just at home with chic dresses and pencil skirts as it did with leather leggings and denim? In addition to being a part of countless winning street style looks, the sneaker was constantly being reinvented—first, Isabel Marant’s ubiquitous The Bekett Wedge Sneakers ($695), then Givenchy’s Skate Shoes ($650), and now gym-inspired styles—making the trend feel new and exciting all year long.

Most School Spirit
The varsity jacket may have graduated from the schoolyard to high-fashion territory, but it’s still the most spirited piece in your closet. The best part? You don’t have to be an all-star athlete to make this outerwear piece your own.
