For a designer known for sumptuous confections dripping in color and embellishment, Alber Elbaz's latest collection for Lanvin seemed slightly more restrained. His S/S 13 runway collection kicked off with a parade of sleek head-to-toe noir ensembles which, upon closer inspection, were actually quite ornate. Provocative cuts, high-shine textures, and artful draping, combined with heavy jeweled collars and neckpieces, gave each look the signature touch. And true to form, there were still shots of color at the end of the show, thanks to color-blocked frocks in acid yellow, deep purple, and emerald.
