The message at 3.1 Phillip Lim was loud and clear: bring back the '90s! Clearly, we're not the only ones obsessed with the decade. Gone was Lim's usual array of pretty frocks and sorbet shades; for S/S 13, the designer conjured up graphic tees, slouchy pants, patchwork denim, and checkered prints with a tough-girl twist. But although the runway was certainly a '90s redux, the looks were updated for the modern-day trendsetter. Overalls looked fresh and bold in shocking pink, sheer mesh inserts lent little floral dresses a dose of attitude, and everything got the grunge treatment in a mishmash of patterns that was not at all puzzling--just pleasing!
