Saoirse Ronan's Oscars Dress Was Made to Transition From Awards to After-Party

Saoirse Ronan's pink Calvin Klein Oscars dress is destined to make a lasting impression for a number of reasons. Tonight mark's the 23-year-old's third Oscar nomination, and it may very well be the gown in which she takes home the gold. The Calvin Klein by Appointment number, designed by Raf Simons, channels the Ralph Lauren gown in which Gwyneth Paltrow won her Oscar for Best Actress in 1999. Even if she doesn't win for her performance in Lady Bird tonight, Ronan is poised to be the next big thing in Hollywood, and her bold pink look is just one of the many things she's doing to perfection.

"It is a pink, which is what I was trying not to do, but it was just right," confessed stylist Elizabeth Saltzman, who helped create the memorable Oscars look. "I want this to be timeless," she noted to Vogue. "It needed to be about Saoirse, as a person." The modern dress balances clean design with playful detail, sporting an exaggerated bow at the back. The most interesting detail might be the feature that allows for an ingenious quick-change for the after-party. "The train comes off, so she can party her ass off," Saltzman confessed with a laugh.
