In honor of the 30th anniversary of Air Max and Air Max Day—that's March 26 for non-sneakerheads—NikeLab partnered with fashion designer Riccardo Tisci along with Marc Newson Arthur Huang to reimagine classic styles, including Tisci's updated Nike Air Max 97 design, which he shared on Instagram.

This isn't Tisci's first time collaborating with Nike—the former Givenchy creative director teamed up with NikeLab in 2014 on Air Force 1 boot silhouettes and again last year on the Dunk Lux High style. Christian Tresser originally designed the late-'90s Air Max 97, and at one point, "La Silver" was Italy's must-have sneaker, so it's fitting that the Italian designer would take on the sneaker's new design.

Tisci's black leather 2017 version maintains its single colorway, and it features a minimalistic embossed "Nike x RT" logo, metallic gold accents, white stitching, and a simple white and clear sole. The silhouette's updated mid-cut gives the OG style an edgy, stylish look that's sleek but still pays homage to the iconic kicks.
