Rebecca Minkoff Takes a Risk, Goes Punk Patti Smith for F/W 15

Meghan Blalock

Look, it's no secret: So far, the F/W 15 runways have been absolutely filled with '70s influence. And in a wave of inspiration we utterly adore, Rebecca Minkoff took it one step further by picking one '70s icon in particular to derive inspiration from: The incomparable punk rock princess Patti Smith.

Incorporating plenty of wide-brimmed hats, suede fabrications, and fringe, Minkoff's F/W 15 collection is a lovely homage to Smith and her award-winning 2010 memoir Just Kids. Minkoff's aesthetic doesn't normally veer this far into vintage territory, and we commend her for taking such a notable risk.
