Rashida Jones Puts Her Own Spin On Fall's Menswear Trend
Here’s what we know for sure about Jones: our Styled By subject has an unparalleled wit, she co-wrote and starred in romantic comedy Celeste and Jesse Forever, loves Thanksgiving stuffing, and designed a fine jewelry collection with sister design duo Dannijo, Fine by Dannijones, that is utterly sweet and chic. Oh, and she’s a true style star. To prove it, Jones stopped by our L.A. offices and put together three outfits that that speak to her tomboy sensibilities. Keep reading to shop her borrowed-from-the-boys looks and pieces from her jewelry line now.

“If you can wear menswear and make it look sexy, I guess that’s the sexiest thing you can do. There is something about how covered up and tailored it is, that is really alluring, sexy, and sophisticated.”

"I grew up wearing a uniform for 13 years, so I love tuxedos. I actually bought this jacket because the fit was so beautiful. If it fits well, it looks so polished. It’s so easy, and you really haven’t done anything but put on a suit, which I love."
On Jones: Paul Smith Black Floral Jacquard Jacket ($835) and Bib-Front Silk Organza Blouse ($950); Fine by Dannijones Peanut 1 Earring ($98), Peanut 2 Earrings ($118), Digs Earring ($228), Kenya Ear Cuff ($268), and Hermana Necklace ($598).
“This look reminds me a lot of my childhood. I love houndstooth and have since I was a little girl. My sister tried to make me wear some of those ‘80s fashion trends like bubble skirts, thigh-high tights, and off-the-shoulder dresses, but I just wanted to wear houndstooth trousers.”
On Jones: Marc by Marc Jacobs Terence Jacquard Jacket ($478); Adam Lippes T-Shirt ($95); Rochas Armure Cropped Pants ($1050); Fine by Dannijones Terhagen 3 Necklace ($598) and Coco Anklet ($368); Christian Louboutin Latcho Mixed-Media Oxfords ($1375).
“There is something so inherently effortless about somebody who can rock a tuxedo, especially wearing little oxford loafers.”
On Jones: Christian Louboutin Latcho Mixed-Media Oxfords ($1375).
“I love a white collar on anything, and there is something so girly about an embellished collar. It’s a serious look, but the embellishment makes you feel like a princess.”
On Jones: Miu Miu Crepe Cropped Jacket ($2205); A.L.C. Sandro Top in Cotton & Novelty Combo ($225); Rag & Bone Easier Pants ($195); Fine by Dannijones Coco 3 Necklace ($598), Merve 3 Necklace ($598), and Elf Midi Ring ($198).
Merv Anklet ($368)
“I think our contribution is to try and get anklets going. I remember it making me feel very feminine wearing an anklet. The unicorn is the quintessential symbol of whimsy and is also a reminder to not take things too serious and to stay creative and imaginative in your daily life.”
Coco 2 Necklace ($598)
“I think that Danielle and Jodi and have a good sense of humor in their jewelry: it’s never too serious. It’s fun and sometimes outrageous, so when we talked about doing a fine jewelry line we wanted to have inspiration that felt whimsical.”
Satin High Waist Trousers ($350)
Kenya Ear Cuff ($268)
“In the past year, where people wear their jewelry has opened so much. I love knuckle rings, and ear cuffs are great.”
Hermana Hand Piece ($498)
“I lose my jewelry a lot, so there is a lot of turnover for me, which is not great for my budget, but it means that I get to try a bunch of different things.”
Kidada Ring ($298)
“I have been a fan of Dannijo for a while. I told them if they ever wanted to do a collaboration with a complete beginner that knows nothing about jewelry, I would be their girl.”
Peanut 3 Earring ($138)
“I like the idea of jewelry being a part of who you are in a way that clothes can’t necessarily be. You can wear jewelry every day and sleep in it and becomes part of your person.”
