This Serbian Princess Got Married in a Very Non-Princess Dress

Even though experts say that the princess-bride look is still a very popular wedding dress trend, there’s a very different way to do it currently. And perhaps there’s no one better to demonstrate than a real-life princess.

This past weekend, Prince Philip of Serbia married Danica Marinkovic in Belgrade. And while the event had many of the trappings of a royal wedding—for instance, crowns and tiaras—the bride went for a more minimal and modern interpretation of a princess dress. Hers was created by Serbian designer Roksanda Ilincic—a brand Kate Middleton’s worn quite a few times before as well. While the full skirt and train gave the design plenty of elegance and glamour, the princess opted for a more subdued approach to the details. No beading, no sparkle—just a pair of lovely, sheer, and billowy sleeves.

Take a look below at how this weekend’s royal wedding was far from old hat princess-bride style.
