The Trend You Learned to Hate Just Rose From the Dead

Lauren Eggertsen

At the Prabal Gurung F/W 17 runway show, there was a lot of good. Starting with Bella Hadid's bundled opening look, transitioning to the glittering gowns, and ending with an empowering political statement, this show was one aha moment after another. However, there was the resurrection of a certain trend that almost went unnoticed amid the bold hues and fringy confections—colored tights.

It seems as though the second you graduated elementary school, festive and colored tights were no longer acceptable or "cool," which Prabal Gurung clearly aimed to contest this season. Models stormed the catwalk in tights clad in colors that, until now, you might have thought were "tacky" (such as turquoise, yellow, and red), but thanks to the genius styling techniques at hand, this is a trend we can definitely get on board with come fall.

What better way to add some life to a look bogged down with heavy coats, sweaters, and the like than with a brightly colored pair of tights? This trend might take some getting used to, but after thinking on it a little, we have already dreamed up street style shots, magazine spreads, and blogger looks aplenty that will be made that much sweeter thanks to this once forgotten trend. Are you ready for a little change and a potential trip down memory lane?

Scroll down to see this trend in action on the runway at the Prabal Gurung F/W 17 show!
