Personal Style 2007
We're not particularly sentimental people, but today we'd like to ease into the new year by taking a moment to look back. On that note, we've compiled the above images of a few of our fashion-forward favorites. As you surely know by now, we've got a soft spot for innovative ladies who take risks with what they wear. While our subjects may not all be the obvious suspects for a typical best-dressed list, these gals piqued our interest all year long, thanks to their truly personal sense of style.
1. Natalia Vodianova
We adore how this Russian lovely made her fancy frock ultra modern by pairing it with Kova & T's must-have oxy leggings and a pair of jazz shoes.
Traina continues to be one to watch thanks to her impeccable, cutting-edge taste. Seen here at the opening of the Barneys New York store in San Francisco (her family hosted the festivities, naturally), Traina wore scuba-chic Lanvin, Prada heels, and opaques.
One of the best things about Daisy Lowe is her obvious delight in fashion. She's got a playful sense of style that's still far more sophisticated than her stateside peers. We dig that she wore age-appropriate (and darling) shorts to a Topshop party during London Fashion Week.
Ashley Olsen and 5. Mary Kate Olsen
We'd be remiss if we didn't include the Sisters Olsen, so here they are at a Neiman Marcus spring preview of their line, Elizabeth and James. For those curious about the upcoming collection, Ashley (left) is wearing the E&J Parachute Dress from Spring 08. On another note, this duo is always perfectly shod, as the above image exemplifies. We swooned for Ashley's Manolo Blahnik studded heels and Mary Kate's bright Loubis.
We couldn't possibly have a best-dressed list sans the Glossy Mossy! This year she continued to put her stamp on the way the world dresses with her line for Topshop. We applauded her hands-on design approach and how she further spotlighted the collections by wearing her own garb everywhere. Seen here at the 7th on Sale Gala, she wore her own wares, of course.
Who would have guessed that the lovely little lady from Blue Crush would end up so well-dressed? Bosworth is fearless on the red carpet-seen here in Etro-and this experimental and bold spirit should be celebrated.
Tatiana Santo Domingo
We don't devote loads of times to socialites, but this Colombian beauty is chic enough to make the cut. Seen here at a cocktail party for Valentino at the Gramery Park Hotel in New York in April, we couldn't help but note her stunning, simple style.
Bouncing along to the beat of her own drummer, Sevigny is always interesting and spectacularly original. She's always one of the first to try a new trend and combines them in wonderful ways, like above, when she wore an across-body bag and little leather with her party dress.
Another new to WWWD face, this one belongs to British model-turned-host/it girl, Alexa Chung. While she doesn't have tons of credits to her name yet, she's notable for elevating the year's typical indie-style to something special.
Finally we have the darling Jenni Kayne, who's not only a successful designer but also happens to be perfectly put-together as well (a rare double quality). Kayne is an ideal example of a woman who knows how to mix high/low and new/old to a sublime fashion. She's seen here in her own designs (the maxi-skirt is superb, as is the well-chosen belt) at a dinner celebrating the opening of her new store in Los Angeles. Locals take note: today marks the beginning of a blowout sale on Kayne's fall merchandise. Call the store for details, 310.860.0123.
