Pantone’s #1 Color for Spring 2016

Michelle Scanga

Earlier today WWD released this spring’s top 10 colors for women and men, and let’s just say it’s all about cool and calming hues for 2016. According to the experts at Pantone Color Institute, Rose Quartz tops the list as the number one color. And the company’s executive director, Leatrice Eiseman, believes there’s a psychological reason behind the season’s soothing shades. “The fact that technology has gotten so overwhelming and so 24/7 has really created a great part of the need for these comforting, softer colors. Technology plays a huge part in people feeling like they want to stop the world and get off,” she said to the publication.

But back to the winner. Over 22% of designers used Rose Quartz in their S/S 16 collections, making it the most popular hue for the upcoming season (close second goes to Peach Echo, with just under 20%). “This really is a beautiful pink that will radiate well on the skin for women as well as men,” Eiseman added. There you have it: The authority on color has spoken. For the entire list, head over to WWD.
