You Need to Hear This Model's Advice Before Your Next Beach Trip
What does effortless summer style really looks like? Well, that depends on who you ask. But model Paloma Elsesser seems to have all the bases covered in her latest shoot for H&M’s magazine. Shot on Fire Island, the model was featured in a collection of easy-to-piece-together, nonfussy looks, and we had a chance to chat with her about summer style—like the best thing to throw on and what to do when you’re not feeling your best during swim season. Hey, it happens to everyone.
“You are worthy and deserving to enjoy yourself,” Elsesser tells us when we asked for her best piece of confidence-boosting advice. “What others think of you is not your business, beauty isn’t linear, and we have the power to shift how we feel about ourselves.” Of course, the model is something of an expert on the topic, as an advocate for body diversity and someone with a major social media presence. And while summer might raise a few insecurities when it comes to slightly scanter style, Paloma’s shoot is a celebration of carefree, cool outfits that don’t abide by any archaic dressing restrictions.
As for other seasonal styles, Paloma is all about an airy dress—“I love slip dresses because they aren’t finicky or too clingy”—and keeping basics like jeans feeling fresh “with a crop top and some bold earrings.” As for swimwear, it’s all about a retro style: “My favorite swim trend is high-waisted bottoms paired with a bikini top. I love it because its a flattering cut and easy.” Naturally, most of these style tips can be seen—and purchased—in H&M’s complete feature, up on its site now.
