Olivia Palermo Wore This "Ugly" Color Trend Months Before It Was Cool

Adrianna Barrionuevo

Every season there's a standout silhouette or a decade that inspires off-duty style, and this fall it's neither. We previously reported that come autumn, it's going to be all about the color brown, which may not be so popular in the fashion world but actually screams fall foliage. While most of us would likely gravitate toward a beige neutral over a dark chocolate hue, designers like Ralph Lauren, Stella McCartney, and Prada made a strong case for the earthier tone—and so did resident NYC street style trendsetter Olivia Palermo. In fact, Palermo embraced brown back in January (talk about being well, ahead of the trend!). The fashion-forward socialite flaunted the rich hue by wearing a Valentino dress fit for a princess. The high neck of her gown and its billowy maxi style elevated the dark shade for a luxe look. Leave it to Palermo to show us how to wear a trend ahead of time and treat us to some fall-worthy fashion inspo.

Check out the designers who showed brown pieces at the fall shows, and keep scrolling to see how Olivia Palermo wore the trend.
