Fringe Details

As the fall collections start to arrive in online boutiques and appear in our favorite shops, we find ourselves between the proverbial rock and hard place. WeÂ're more than ready to start sporting next seasonÂ's new looks, but obviously the warm weather is totally prohibiting our fashion plans. Rather than sulk (our default response), weÂ're going to take a cue from Kate Moss and Mischa Barton and wear fallÂ's fringe details in a summery way.

As always, accessories are key when transitioning between seasons. Specifically, look to the many fringed bags, boots, and beautiful necklaces in stores now, as they will ease you through the end of the summer and still look great deep into fall. On that note, we instantly fell in love with the latest Gucci collection (very Russian-inflected haute hippie), in no small part because of the amazing tasseled boots that tromped down the runway. You canÂ't miss with GucciÂ's Devendra Over-The-Knee Boots ($1995) and their Devendra High Heel Bootiesicon ($1250) are a sure bet too, thanks to two rows of long suede fringe, stud embellishments, and a four-inch heel. WeÂ'd also like to give Jeffrey CampbellÂ's Crank Boots ($198) a big thumbs up as well. These Gucci-inspired brown suede boots are an affordable way to try the fringed phenomenon. Please note that this is a subtle but significantly different look than the celeb-favorite Minnetonka Moccasin Boots. This style of fringe boot is a bit more sophisticated, thanks to a form-fitting and structured (rather than soft) toe box and sharp heel.

There are other excellent fringed options besides boots, of course. If youÂ're not quite ready to commit to the style statement of shoes, we suggest trying one of Annie Costello BrownÂ's Leather Fringe Necklaces ($250). The necklace is comprised of three tiers of leather fringe and it comes in mustard yellow, grey, black, or cobalt blue. It has adjustable chain length (so you can wear it right at the neck or quite a bit lower) and is available exclusively at Des Kohan (323.857.0200). If you feel you want to embrace the trend a bit more, the fringed bag is for you. Try the magenta thrill of Lucky BrandÂ's Fringe Fest Bag ($158); the color reminds us of Mischa festive vest and that bold shade would be a nice compliment to fallÂ's darker colors. We also adore Jimmy ChooÂ's Diane Hobo ($1495). ItÂ's a fantastic fringed find and has been spotted swinging from Rachel BilsonÂ's shoulder recently. (A good indicator that the bag's about to become very popular!)
