Nike's New Macaron Sneakers Are Wearable but Not Edible

When you think of sneakers, the first thing that comes to mind probably isn't cookies (unless wearing sneakers to exercise can justify consuming cookies, but we understand that's a stretch). But it seems that Nike had desserts on the brain when the team thought up its just-announced summer sneaker launch: the Flyknit Racer Macaron Collection. No, your eyes don't deceive you—Nike designed sneakers based on the pretty little French cookies that we all love to eat (and bloggers love to Instagram). But not to worry— there are no macaron-shaped embellishments on these sneakers. They're simply inspired by the pretty pastel hues that the treats are famous for.

We were admittedly skeptical when we heard the name of the collection, but we were pleasantly surprised to see that these are some of the coolest Nikes around right now, and they are just what our summer shoe collection needs. The breathable sock-like sneakers come in four macaron-inspired shades: strawberry, blueberry, pistachio, and lavender, and they ring in at $150 each. The bad news is that you'll have to wait until May 19 at 10 a.m. EDT to order these sneakers (mark your calendars), but they're undoubtedly worth the wait.

We leave you with this quote from Nike: "In a traditional macaron it's the egg whites that get beat, and in the new Flyknit Racer Macaron Collection it's everyone you're running against."
