How Nike's Newest Sports Bras Are Inspired by Its Sneakers

If there are two items that can really make or break your workout, it's probably your sports bra and your shoes. According to Fashionista, the designers at Nike seem to understand this relationship, as they have created an entire line of sports bras that take structural inspiration from the brand's It girl-approved sneakers.

At a recent presentation of Nike's S/S 16 offerings, the brand's VP of women's global design talked about how the collection's sports bras now include Flywire technology, an element originally included in Nike's sneakers.

"We were thinking about how essential the sports bra is to [a woman's] workout wardrobe," Julie Igarashi said at the panel. "If that isn't right, nothing is, so how do we take what we offer and then reimagine an additional level of support and cooling? Think about a suspension bridge, and about how minimalist cabling in the right place can provide a lot of support and structure but [still be] ultra-lightweight."

If the celebrity and street style worlds' obsessions with Nike sneakers is any indicator, the brand's forthcoming sports bras will surely be an athleisure staple as well! We'll keep you posted on when the S/S 16 bras drop; in the meantime, head to Nike.com to shop the brand's current sports bras, and keep scrolling to shop some of our favorite Nike sneakers now!
