Your Favorite Gym Sneakers Are Now a Sports Bra

by Rachel Burns

We’re always on the hunt for the best sports bras out there, and we’ve found a new one to add to the list. Nike’s latest innovation, the Fe/nom Flyknit Bra, is everything we’ve been looking for—and everything we already love in sneakers.

The bra is inspired by the Flyknit technology used in Nike footwear, known for holding shape while providing support and breathability in precise areas. This innovation, which revolutionized running sneakers, debuted with the Nike Flyknit Racers in 2012, and now Nike is applying the same approach to support for another part of the body. “This is bigger than a bra, really,” says Janett Nichol, VP of apparel innovation at Nike, in a press release. “It’s about breaking down the barriers women face in sports and life.”

The NikeWomen design team asked female athletes what they were looking for in a bra, and no surprise, the responses were support, comfort, breathability, cooling, and style. Nike’s solution of using the lightweight, formfitting Flyknit material resulted in a bra that’s sleek and stylish while still providing women with the practical needs of a hardcore workout. And it gets better: The Nike Fe/nom Flyknit Bra is made with just two pieces of fabric and one binding, making it 30% lighter than any other bra in the brand’s line. A lightweight yet supportive sports bra? Total game changer.

The Nike Fe/nom Flyknit Bra launches today exclusively on Nike+ before going on sale at nike.com on July 14. But keep an eye out in the fall, when the style will become available in more colors.
