It's that time of year again: The weather is warming up enough to have us itching for summer Fridays, and we're scrambling to get some weekend trips on the books so we have something to look forward to once Memorial Day finally rolls around. (After all, the anticipation is half the fun, don't you think?)

Once your AirBnb is booked and your travel plans are arranged, the only thing left to think about is what to pack. Rather than lugging around a full-size suitcase or stuffing your clothes into half a dozen canvas tote bags—both of which I've been guilty of in the past—finding a practical, roomy weekender bag is a move you won't regret.

And because we're all about getting a second (and sometimes sixth) opinion, we asked some of the most well-traveled fashion industry folks we know for their favorite luggage picks for shorter trips.

So whether you're taking off on a Kardashian-style girls' trip or just getting out of the city for a day or two, read on for tips on where to buy a bag that'll get you there in style.

Erica Choi

"For three-plus day trips or trips that require a flight, I like bringing a small carry-on so it comfortably fits and protects enough outfits and shoes depending on the event, as well as my entire beauty routine (which is very important!). However, for a short weekend road trip or a staycation, I opt for a lighter duffle. This one from Truss is really nice with the black and white stripes, and what makes it cooler and eco-chic is that it is actually woven plastic handmade in Oaxaca, Mexico, and a percentage of the sales aid in the development of Oaxacan communities." — Erica Choi, digital art director at Barneys New York and Blogger at Egg Canvas

Alison Chemla

"My go-to bag for a weekend trip is my pastel pink Raden A22 Raden suitcase. It's lightweight, making it easy to wheel and lift on my travels while keeping all of my clothing and accessories organized. As an added bonus, it charges all of my devices — ensuring that I'll never be out of touch with the team during trunk shows, long cross-country and international flights, or quick family getaways. The light pink colorway also perfectly complements my new custom pastel enamel pieces, which I've been wearing non-stop." — Alison Chemla, founder and designer of Alison Lou

Roberta Benteler

"I usually take my Louis Vuitton monogram roll-on suitcase on weekend trips, as it is the perfect size for cabin luggage, and you don't have to carry it, which makes it so practical. It's also a classic and will never go out of fashion.

I can fit it just enough for a weekend city break or a trip to the countryside, so it is my constant companion. I usually manage to fit two daytime and two evening outfits into it, but you have to plan what you are wearing, as there is no space for alternative options. Also, I might only take two pairs of shoes plus the ones I am wearing during the journey." — Roberta Benteler, founder of Avenue 32

Anita Ko

"My favorite bag is definitely my beat-up 35cm Etoupe Birkin. I carry it with me everywhere I travel! It holds everything, looks chic, and has lots of big pockets for all my essentials. It's my go-to when I need a strong bag that won't break on me halfway through my trip." — Anita Ko, founder and designer of Anita Ko

Koren Ray

"Whenever I travel, I always use the HOBO Kingston—it's the most versatile bag I've ever used. With its beautiful, lightweight leather, it never weighs me down, even when fully loaded. It also features loads of dedicated pockets to keep my tablet, sunglasses, pens, wallet, earbuds, and cables all tucked out of the way, leaving room for all other travel necessities, like fashion (and gossip) magazines and protein bar breakfasts for the train. Whenever I have longer trips, it also expands, with plenty of added space for sleep masks and cozy socks, too. Did I mention that the cell phone pocket on the outside has changed my life? No more digging to catch a ringing phone!" — Koren Ray, co-founder and designer of HOBO

Ippolita Rostagno

"I have a classic Goyard, which makes a fantastic bag for quick trips. It's a roomy catchall and effortless to carry—which comes in handy when I'm running through airports! No matter where I'm off to, I always throw in my iPad, a large Hermès cashmere scarf, and stacks of my signature gold bangles." — Ippolita Rostagno, founder and designer of Ippolita
