The Sunglasses Shapes That Are Nearly Universally Flattering

Adrianna Barrionuevo

Glamour’s Fashion News Director Jane Keltner de Valle took a deep dive into finding the best sunglasses shapes for different faces. After all, the accessory is a summer staple, and the days of seemingly endless sunshine are right around the corner. Keltner de Valle discovered that while there's no one style to perfectly fit everyone, there are two styles that will flatter most faces. "While there is no one-size-fits-all model, trapezoidal Wayfarers and teardrop aviators come close, and most brands do a take on these iconic shapes,” she explains.

Wondering which of the two popular styles pick? Choose a pair that is the opposite of your face shape: If you have a round face, try the more angular trapezoidal shape to pronounce soft features. If your face has stronger angles, opt for a rounded teardrop-shaped aviator style for some balance. See how flattering these two shapes can be below, and keep scrolling to shop our favorite styles.
