Balmain

If Miami Vice's Don Johnson and Philip Michael Thomas immediately come to mind when looking at Olivier Rousteing's Resort 13 lineup for Balmain, then you're on the right track. South Beach in the '80s was the overarching theme for the collection, as evidenced by the sugary pastel hues and Art Deco influences. You can see glimpses of the city's iconic swimming pool mosaics in the graphic diamond check and arabesque prints that were shown on everything from skinny jeans to knit tops, while the suits, with their broad shoulders, elongated jackets, and slouchy pleat trousers, speak brilliantly to the popular menswear look of that time. On the accessory front, Cadillac-inspired chrome-plate belts and guipure lace open-toe booties offered a hint of the brand's storied subversive edge. The collection as a whole is as hot as the Miami sun, offering plenty in the way of day and eveningwear for the cool girl.--Jessica Baker
