We knew we liked Marie Hindkaer Wolthers when she admitted to owning more than 100 nail polishes. We fell in love when we saw her collection of covet-worthy ensembles.
How would you explain your personal style?
“Effortless Scandinavian minimalist infused with a dose of tomboy nonchalance and girly sweetness. It’s contemporary, wearable, and less is always more.”
How does the city you live in inspire your day-to-day style?
“I used to live in Los Angeles where you drive everywhere, but since I moved to London earlier this year the amount of flats in my wardrobe has definitely increased and the average height on my heels has dropped. Also, when shopping for skirts, shorts, or dresses I always think about how they’ll look with stockings, which are essential during the colder months in London."
What are some of your favorite current trends?
“I’m really into the whole boy-meets-girl trend, which has been around for quite some time now. I love teaming a boxy sweatshirt with a frilled skirt, a mannish coat with cropped pants and heels, or a girly dress with loafers. It’s all about opposites attracting.”
Who are your style icons?
“I get this question a lot and the answer is always the same. I admire Caroline de Maigret and the Italian stylist Ada Kokosar for their effortlessly chic style. Also, I can’t get enough of Vanessa Traina’s simplicity and fellow blogger Eleonora Carisi’s eclectic looks.”
What's one of your go-to pieces in your closet?
“You learn the importance of a great coat or jacket when you grow up in Denmark, where summer is limited to only a few months every year. Every season I add at least three new coats or jackets to my growing selection. Sometimes all people see is your coat and shoes, so it makes total sense. I mean, who wants to wear the same dress everyday?”
Where are your favorite places to shop?
“I find most of my things online, and my current go-tos include My-wardrobe.com, Matchesfashion.com, YouHeShe.com and Nuecph.com. The last named is one of my favorite shops in Copenhagen—and luckily they have an online store as well. I also love high street shopping and get my fix from Zara, Topshop, and H&M. I try not to stop by too often...”
