Leggings are undoubtedly an essential element to the modern woman’s wardrobe. Right now fashion girls are opting for pairs with mesh panels, graphic color-blocking, and retro branding. Whether you’re heading out to a barre class, running errands, or lounging around, we can all agree that a great pair of leggings is so essential. Which is why we’re committed to discovering the coolest pairs for you, our stylish readers.

Some of you may be dressing for a growing baby bump, so to uncover what makes the best maternity leggings, we asked Laura and Ashley, owners of Tilden, an online shopping destination for expectant mothers, to weigh in. What they found was that “that regular, non-maternity low-rise leggings worked best for because they offered the most versatility.” They told Who What Wear, “Our customers tell us they often grow out of those over-the-belly panels, ending up having to cut the top band to accommodate their bumps, which meant those leggings were headed straight for the trash after delivery. Women also find that the seams around the waist of over-the-belly panels can be far too low, cutting off their butt in a very unflattering way.”

Go on to shop for regular-sized low-rise pairs, which make for the best maternity leggings.
