Man Repeller Just Gave This Fashion Cliché a Makeover

Adrianna Barrionuevo

We're all pretty familiar with the old notion that when it comes to a "proper" ensemble, your shoes should match your bag. It certainly works for certain outfits, namely black-on-black ones, but the dressing technique is cliché and downright dated. No one knows this more than the style maven known for her bold approach to fashion—the Man Repeller herself, Leandra Medine Cohen. The blogger-turned–shoe designer attended TOD’S Fellini-esque Holiday Circus Celebration in NYC this week and broke that classic rule by implementing one of her own: matching your bag with your socks.

Leandra's 2016 version of the matchy-matchy technique is pretty clever if you ask us. It's the perfect excuse to dig up those bright pink or yellow socks we never wear, and who doesn't love a bold bag with a festive holiday outfit? Leandra showed off her red socks, which coordinated with her fiery bag, allowing them to peek out from over her ankles. Her black trench and skirt made way for the rule-breaking pop of color to stand out and make a statement.

See how Man Repeller styled her matching bag and socks below.
