Head Candy

Head Candy
Wednesday, December, 19, 2007 If our calculations are correct, it's just starting to dawn on you that your packed party schedule (which won't cease anytime soon) is giving you brain strain. Your pending mental meltdown certainly isn't helped by the panicked, little voice in your head endlessly asking, "What on earth are you going to wear to all those events?" Our suggestion is simple. Take a cue from the ladies above and add an interesting hair accessory for an instant infusion of effortless chic.

While these extravagant embellishments are always a fashion show staple, there were some truly fantastic examples of hair confectionaries on the runways this fall. We were particularly inspired by the vivid yellow fronds shown at Donna Karan and also secretly covet the ornate pieces worn at Christian Lacroix and Jean Paul Gaultier (all above). Celebrities have recently worn muse-worthy pieces too, like the tufted delight Naomi Campbell wore to a London Fashion Week party. We also are quite fond of the lovely retro look Lily Allen sported for a London event, as well as the peacock headband Mary Kate Olsen chose for a night out in Paris.

We found a few options for you, dear readers, to try. If you like the feathered look, check out Jennifer Ouellete's Narrow Feather Headband ($50), which comes in three shades: peacock eye, brown pheasant, and black. If you prefer a classic, cocktail hat look, there are loads of styles available at RubyLane, like the Small Black Topper Hat ($45) or the Vintage Black Velvet and Satin Hat ($28)
