Great Lengths

It's clear that the mini has made its mark on the collective celebrity consciousness. Whether they're walking down the red carpet or up to the patio at Hyde, there are lots o' legs everywhere. So leave it to some of the most fashion-forward faces-like Kate Moss-to start throwing long, long skirts and dresses back in the mix.

Now, not any ankle-grazing item will do. We certainly would not like to encourage anyone to return to wearing peasant skirts- that trend tortured us v e r y s l o w l y. Today's maxi-length should be simple; no ruffles or fussy layers. While not necessary, we do prefer a monochromatic look as it is most flattering to all body types.

One example of the "great lengths" we adore comes from the Kate Moss for Topshop collection. Seen here, the long dress has a satin skirt and fitted waistcoat top ($148.50, topshop.com). The juxtaposition of the modesty of the skirt and structured, yet bare, top make for a subtle sexiness that never screams, "Trying too hard!"
